Remember watching footage of him a few years back and being mesmerized by his ability to stand in front of his opponents and avoid anything coming his way. Like a 60's sweet pea, he never carried a great dig but had a formidable record.

Yeah the radar was something else, he was a joy to watch a real purist's defensive fighter, Duran couldn't get near him as well.

it's hard to say because there's been a good few that could take the award, but for me in terms purely of defense Locche is the GOAT

usin hardly any mobility for the most part, just standing there avoiding anything coming his way, and what was mad impressive was that it wasn't just head shots he dodged so well, it was like body shots were no threat to him, all hitting the elbows, Winky Wright would be red with envy and probably be proud to be

Fighter's like this are blessed that's for sure, virtually impossible to tag and pin down, they grow in confidence when there opponents are missing thus making there opponent frustrated and his work scrappy. Funnily enough i watched that clip after i started this thread, there a vociferous crowd sound's like the footy:lol:

Even though he's a fat mess and never took his weight seriously, i have always enjoyed James Toney's style of defense of being able to stand in the pocket and use his upper body and head to slip, slide and roll punches.

This could make a great article the various style's of defense!
