His combination punching and accuracy is obviously excellent, but I'm not entirely convinced he has the defense to beat the elite. His guard is decent when he has it up and when he moves his upper-body it's usually effective enough, but he gets clipped just a little too often for me. He has that Cotto open for the uppercut guard thing going on a little as well. I still think he's class like, just a few things I've noticed in my limited viewing of him.

Really good bodypuncher, great fitness, handspeed, good jab, accuracy and power for a volume puncher. Basically an excellent offense, but a porous defence. Needs to move his head more, and avoid blind slugging matches. It might work against fighters who he's able to overwhelm, but try that against elite fighters like Donaire, Mares or Rigo and he'll pay for it. I think he will improve a fair bit yet though, he's still relatively young new to a world class level. He's cracking fighter to watch and a nice guy out of the ring though, could potentially be a star.

excellent offensive fighter who has put beatings on people lately. id like to see a matchup with another top fighter, maybe mares. like you, im not sure about his overall ability. you know, in a tough fight against a top guy? what would he do if mares kept landing that left hook straight right combo? or he's struggling to find a quick guy who sticks and moves. good questions...

co-sign everything in this thread. Donaire would tee off on him with monster punches, Rigo would land big counters through his leaky defence in a fight many would hate to watch, Mares would have a very exciting fight with him but come out on top.

I've been rooting for him for a while now. LSC's like a far more skilled, super-bantamweight version of Margarito. He's always in a tear-up it seems, in his last fight against the awkward yet effective Munoz he went straight to the trenches, broke his man down and stopped him.

He's not a terribly big puncher, more an accurate, effective one. Throws buckets of shots aimed everywhere. The leverage he gets on his body shots is frightening, every guy he fights must piss blood for fuckin' days after the savagery he puts you through. Non-stop offensive machine. I love him. Cool guy, also.
He does have a leaky defense which in itself could potentially lead to a short shelf-life, but his chin seems rock solid. I'm only basing that though on his bouts against Munoz, Morel, Guevara, Malinga, Zaleta, etc. With Munoz clearly being the hardest puncher he's fought so far. None of 'em are real punchers, to be honest.

Accurate assessment on his chin. I think with defence his chin could really be pushed against Rigo/Mares/Donaire.
