He's one of those fighters that I find really difficult to like and has a shit ton of controversial decisions on his record, but he also fought absolutely everyone and was a warrior. Oscar didn't have to come out of that 7th round with Manny Pacquiao, but he showed the warrior mentality to take some more. If he didn't care about losing, he would've pulled out there and then. Some balls to do that. But then on the other hand he does so well against Trinidad and then just decides to coast. With Mayweather he just stops doing what's giving him success.

As a HOFer, his resume has so many names, a fair amount of wins but lost close decisions against almost all the greats he faced.
As a fighter, I think he was a warrior and had some terrific fights.
As a promoter, he talks absolute fucking shite and I don't listen to a word he says.

Laid out the blue print for Trinidad. Won it easily and I'm a huge Tito fan.

Bit of a curve ball but for me he might be just as important as a break out promoter as he was a fighter . I feel really strongly about that. When GBP hit the scene there was some serious heel dragging taking place. A line in the sand had been drawn with King and Arum either side.

Great fighter. Certainly an all-time great. Massive for his contributions to the sport as a popular fighter.

He did have a lot of close fights but before fighting B-Hop he was extremely competitive in every fight he was in, and there are a fucking shit-ton of names there.

Clearly a great fighter.

Of the highest level of fighter we have seen? No, but I'm not going to make out that that's a negative thing and bash him over it. A great fighter.

On his close fights, I thought;

He beat Tito

He lost to Quartey

He beat Mosley in the rematch.

He drew with Whitaker but Whitaker had a KD disallowed which should have won it for him (I think that's how I had it but I actually don't remember for sure, been so long)

He lost to Sturm

Good to great boxer who just fell short of the elite. A HOFer for sure but probably misses out on top 100 ranking.

Career is hard to evaluate due to so many controversial fights: Sturm, Trinidad, Mosley II, Whitaker, Quartey, Mayweather (for some) being fights that could have swung in his favour or should have against him.

Even despite these - however you thought they went he still also has Chavez x2, Ruelas, Paez, Molina, Leija, Gonzlaez, Camacho, Vargas, Gatti, Campas and Mayorga which is a pretty solid resume.

Ok serious post, I think on McGrain's list he is a tiny bit high I would of had him on that list probably in the 88 to 95 bracket
I could go with that, I'd have to have a good look though as there some guys from history that could see him edged out of the top 100 but I wouldn't be uncomfortable with him making the back end of the list.
