People are obviously hyping up a Pac/May fight and have been for years and, generally, it's a 50/50 split as to who people think would win.

Alot of people are also giving Marquez the edge in Saturdays 4th fight with Pac so, if this is the case, why are people not clamouring around a potential Marquez/Mayweather rematch at this stage? Could it potentially happen if Marquez despatches Pacquiao?

There's no point in a May-Marquez rematch in my opinion. Mayweather dominated him so badly it would be weird to see it again.

This. It doesn't change how one-sided Marquez-Floyd would be again. We all know Marquez is still elite anyway regardless of whether he gets past Pacquiao or not, it's just the fact that stylistically he doesn't match-up at all well with Floyd and thus I wouldn't want to see another one-sided fight between the two.

Personally, I think Marquez should retire win or lose, I think this should be it for him. Whilst he's obviously still got the talent, it would be hard I think for him to get up for a fight that wasn't Mayweather if he beat Pacquiao, and that's not a fight he should take. Otherwise, what other fights are there out there for him? Other than maybe Bradley which doesn't sell and is a step backwards?

He could go back to 140 and try to clean up but does he need to and would he be motivated stepping in against the likes of Garcia and Matthysse? It's only gonna be backwards from a Pacquiao fight should he win, might as well go out on a high. If he loses, I guess he deserves one last winning send-off for his services to the sport over the years.

If Bute can get a rematch with Froch by laboring a decision against Grachev then why can't JMM by beating Manny Pacqiuao?

I don't even want to condone a Marquez-Mayweather rematch tbh but just going off topic to rant about the waste of a fight that is Bute-Froch 2. Soz.

Two wrongs don't make a right, PB. JMM-Floyd II is as much a waste as the Froch-Bute rematch is.

I would like to see a Marquez/Mayweather rematch. Marquez clearly messed up his prep for the first fight, came in bulky as hell and was slow as hell. I think if he came in more adapted to the weight then it would be a better fight. I'd still pick Mayweather but i think JMM would do a lot better and give him some problems. Plus it would be good to see how his training approach has improved to the last time he went up from lightweight.

Plus Floyd cheated on the scales so its a half void wn for me. let him earn it properly and give JMM a few more million, he's earned it.

I suppose the only possibility is that Marquez is now more comfortable at the weight and might be able to do a little better against Mayweather this time, although that is unlikely.

Being a counterpuncher vs counterpuncher fight it basically comes down to who has the superiority in being able to lead, handspeed, power, things like that.

Problem for Marquez is that Mayweather shades him pretty much across the board, there just isn't much to work with.
