I found putting a stall down so I could sit on it and rest at the bottom helped to progress to unaided pistols. Gradually get lower and then you can just collapse onto the seat when you reach your sticking point then get back up from the seated position.

Saying that, I never managed to do an unaided one. I was practicing them when the gyms were shut and forgot about them when they opened. Might start again actually.
Good idea that, actually. Just gradually get lower...

Another horrible bench session yesterday, I just don't seem to be able to hit my expected numbers based off my 1 rep max. I know my 1 rep max is 93.5kg I did that on my last max week. But I'm not hitting the numbers expected when doing anything more than 3 reps. So it seems I have the strength at lower rep ranges but above 3 reps my work capacity is lower. I haven't done any kind of higher rep work in ages, thinking I might need to throw in a block working on higher reps, maybe that will fix my plateau.

Been comparing where I am now to around this time last year. My bench and deadlift are both about 5kg worse, though my squat is better, which considering I've mainly been focusing on squat makes sense I guess. Squat I feel is still my weakest lift but I had hoped I'd hit a 100kg bench before end of year but that doesn't seem likely.

Change to higher reps imo. Makes a huge difference when you go back down to lower repping in my experience.

@mandela did you ever get rid of your hernia like thing? I remember you had this a while ago. Since starting bjj I have had a weird feeling in my lower right ab area, above the groin but below the belly button kind of area. It's not painful, it just feels... Weird. Some days like today it's very noticeable, other days it's not there at all. Sometimes gets aggravated squatting, I can mostly feel it when I'm at the lower point in the squat. Sometimes I don't feel it at all squatting.

Really strange, like I said it's not painful and not particularly uncomfortable, it's just there.

3.05 mile tempo run today, 2 miles at slower pace, 1 mile at tempo done in 24:03. Despite in being over 24 mins was pretty happy with my run, the tempo mile was in a pretty strong head wind all the way, so I think I would have gotten around 23 mins in decent conditions, at least it felt like I was really pushing myself and that I got a good cardio workout.

Since starting bjj I have had a weird feeling in my lower right ab area, above the groin but below the belly button kind of area. It's not painful, it just feels... Weird. Some days like today it's very noticeable, other days it's not there at all. Sometimes gets aggravated squatting, I can mostly feel it when I'm at the lower point in the squat. Sometimes I don't feel it at all squatting.

Nah, I don't t think so but I could only ever really feeling it when I was striking the ball at fitba. Which I haven't done since March. Just that particular movement. I'm naw sure it'd actually heal itself. Although it wouldn't be the first time i've done summin no other human is capable of, tbf.

That definitely sounds similar though, mate.

Naw sure you'll survive it, if I'm being completely honest :(

Intredasting. I only get the pain if my leg is at 90 degrees to my body, like if I lift my knee, bend over or squat. Yesterday it was quite obvious, today nothing. Very weird. I wonder if it is a hernia or just a muscle tear.

I’ve decided to improve my ohp

everything else gets stronger but I’m stuck at 59kg and always have been. So I’ve dropped it to 54kg and doing sets of 12 until I can get to 25...

I think a 95kg man should probably be able to ohp 70 but I’m nowhere near

Can you feel anything when touching it? Like a lump?

I could feel a very small bump. I was told it was the earliest stage of a hernia. So wasn't quite there yet. I can't feel it any more though...maybe it did heal.

Or, more probably, the next time I kick a ball I'll be crippled. Obvs still put it in the top corner, mind.

Can't feel anything. Even if I push hard as fuck there's no lump or anything. And during bjj last night there was zero pain or any sign of anything wrong.

It's probably the worst hernia ever seen in a human combined with fatal aids of the abdomen, but where I'm so fucking hard it just feels like a bit of an ache tbh.

Depends entirely on what the 95kg is made of. If you're 95kg of lean muscle you should do 70, probably. If you're the average gym goer type build then you won't be near 70kg and there's no shame in that.

Also don't bother with those gay comparison sites, they're utterly pointless. Just improve on yourself and you'll do fine.

Really common for people to plateau on OHP while still making progress on other lifts. As it's the major lift that uses the smallest muscle group the delts which is also the muscle group were gaining mass is the hardest for most people causing these stalls.

My advice would be to switch to a non linear periodisation method for OHP while keeping linear periodisation for your other lifts.

Also OHP I think is a lift were technique is paramount, so work on that. I can struggle to lift 85% of my max then make 95% look easy just because my technique was better on the 95% reps. One trick I use is to drop the bar a couple of inches at the bottom of the lift and then press, so you get a stretch reflex, Larry Wheels does this when he OHP's and he can OHP 425lbs/193kg.
