Joe Calamari wouldn't stand a chance. :bart
Like everyone else, including some of the top and most respected fighters in the sport.Mate, I could walk through what Calzaghe throws and put him on his arse. How he went undefeated is beyond me.
40-something Hopkins just about beat him IMO, although I cheered when Joe won. And I really don't think Kessler was any better back then than he is now. I can't believe you mentioned Brewer as well :lol:Like everyone else, including some of the top and most respected fighters in the sport.
Bhop couldn't do it, and it was inbetween some of his career best performances.
Kessler couldn't do it - and Kessler was amazing back then, far better than he is now.
Eubank, Brewer, Bika, Mitchell etc. etc. None of them were able to do it.
Or he only fought about 4 decent opponents in 20 odd "title" fights.By all rights Joe should have been shit, but his intangibles worked for him in such a way it actually made him really hard to beat.
I think people overdo Kessler fading since he fought Joe in Cardiff. Since his loss to Calzaghe, all of his wins other than against Froch have come by stoppage and his only other loss is against Ward who would have beaten Kessler at any stage of his career. Nothing suggests to me that he would have had much of an easier night's work against Froch back in 2007.40-something Hopkins just about beat him IMO, although I cheered when Joe won.
