you can forget towers, or hayles as he used to be called..tonight showed that...if he was any good the ingles would have him boxing regular at a higher level by now..he was exposed tonight....he's getting serious about boxing at too old of an age, he was the queens guest too long....i'm thinking they obviously are holding him back so they can avoid the likes of fury, price, rogan even, and see if they can steer him to an easier british title shot sometime, but what do they do with him now??....i see him as another paul sykes, who was yorkshire too and who was similar age, heavyweight, with the prison stint behind him.

based on tonight it'll have to be a very clear path to get him to a british title....maybe he could try dallas if he's around to fight...and thats only based on it being the same dallas that fought skelton....and then where does he go after that, because any of the decent british heavyweights will walk through him.

Agreed, he's at Dallas' level, or at least that would be a good fight for him. His post fight interview was talking of learning from tonight's mistakes and moving onwards and upwards, no, just no. I wish him well but he is never going to catch up with the others leading the way. Tough to know where he should go next, that 5th round was unreal.

Going to take something very special to get him close to a title fight. Shown up as very one dimensional. Was very lucky to get out of that round where Tony was really laying it on him. Other than that right hand there isn't much going for him. Larry O and him would be on the same level anything above and I think he gets beat fairly easily.

I just googled his name and read about the kidnap stuff. Pretty serious shit.
Yea, it's great that he found boxing and moved away from the gangster shit, it might be tricky to continue on an upwards trajectory from now on though. Hopefully he'll retain a love of the sport regardless and pass on the positives from his experience.

I'm not writing him off completely btw, he has my best wishes for success, but if he'd been day dreaming of world title fights he was way off.

I'm surprised by this mate. Towers has had no real amateur experience, no fight time before his very late twenties. His aim is to be the best that he can be.....tonight was another lesson and I'm absolutely delighted for the bloke.

**Paul Sykes was a complete and utter nut job who couldn't do a jigsaw never mind fight a fight....... a really daft comparison ( I saw Sykes fight)

comparison in the way they were both inside and didnt get boxing professionally properly until late 20's and neither got to a british title...which i dont think towers will..well, not based on tonight anyway....and sykes, although you seen him and i didnt so i'll respect what you say, aparently looked the business until he met gardner.

you're right though in what you say he wants to be the best and is learning...ok, fair play...but my point is i don't think he's going to make a british champ and how much can he improve at 32 from what we seen tonight.

he was with the ingles before he did his jail time and he did have an amateur career, although i dont know any details of it
