Strong rumours going round at the moment that Ricky Hatton's comeback will be against this guy - http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?cat=boxer&human_id=460508

* He's "unbeaten" but only had 13 fights with 12 wins and 1 draw. 9 stoppage wins but no fights against anyone even slightly notable.
* The draw was a technical draw after a clash of heads. He's fought no one but looks like he's never even lost a round yet in his career.
* Promoted by Don King.
* He's a 5'9 light middleweight which possibly suggests that the fight will be at a catchweight, even though Hatton stated he'll come back at welterweight.
* Made his pro debut in July 2008.
* Has sparred Floyd Mayweather and Antonio Margarito their fights against Miguel Cotto.

From BoxRec:
Amateur Record: 60-5
Silver Medalist in the China vs. USOEC, October 23, 2007 | NMU China vs. USOEC Competition
Member of the USA Boxing Elite Boxing Program in Marquette, Michigan
Quarterfinalist at the 2007 National Golden Gloves
4-time Texas Golden Gloves Champion
2-time Texas U.S. Championships Champion (Voted Outstanding Boxer 2007)

But who knows.. could just be bollocks :conf

Not seen too much of the guy, but I'd be very surprised if its him. His record suggests he is a puncher, and as fought as high as Super Middleweight (one of his fights was at 163lbs). Would be somewhat dangerous IMO

Jessie Vargas seems to fit the bill for me. Unbeaten, has a few names of his record, and is a relatively light puncher

Meh....Never heard of him...Cant see it, Ricky and his spokesperson, the blonde manc lad said its gonna be someone with a top ten ranking who people will know I think...

I heard Judah.....Dunno if anything in that either.....Dunno where he is in latest rankings tbh.....Would be a good fight to get a scale of how he might fair vs Khan.

lol and you believe that? Let's face it, Hatton has pretty much sold out the arena already and that's without anyone knowing anything about who he's fighting or what else is on the card. If he fights someone that half even the posters on here have heard of it'll be ambitious.

I've got my fingers crossed for Katsidis. He may well be at the end of his career, but it would still be a reasonable test for a comeback. I wouldn't want to see Ricky in with Henry though, very risky for a relatively unknown fighter.

It'd be great if everything Hatton said about the Pacquaio camp was true and he really did just peak a month too early but I am not convinced. The Hatton that beat Malignaggi beats this Henry dude, though. Going off that clip.

I think it's pretty clear that Hatton really wasn't well prepared for the Pacquiao fight. I don't normally like to go off of the 24/7 stuff but things like Floyd Senior going to McDonalds instead of training Ricky and Hatton ending up running to the ring without his trainer didn't look good, let alone how he actually fought.

That said he still has a lot of issues to overcome if this comeback is gonna be anything but a failure. Still don't think it's worth it but I'd really love it if Hatton did get back to anywhere near his best though so fingers crossed.

Not saying it would have any effect on the outcome of the fight but there was clearly something not right in the training camp. I said as they walked into the ring it looked funny. I can't remember fully but Floyd sr looked miserable as fuck like he wanted to be somewhere else and I don't think he even walked in with Ricky.

Maybe there was some shit going on behind the scenes that we never heard about and maybe Ricky feels it effected his performance. Not saying it did, just saying maybe Ricky feels he could have done better if you get me?

Yeah definitely. I still feel Hatton would've got sparked eventually because Pacquiao at the time was on fire and stylistically Hatton always would've just walked into his punches IMO but on that night he didn't just walk into shots, he charged face first into them right from the off.

Hatton's performance in the Manny fight really made me wonder how people could dislike him. I know on the surface of it he didn't back up his words and blah blah but he was clearly not there for it and instead of pussying out he took it to Manny and even after get bounced around the ring was still marching forward. Compare that with Cotto, who is heralded as some brave warrior, who took similar treatment and spent the next 9 rounds in survival mode.

Well that's just different styles for you but I know what you mean.

Am I the only person that wasn't impressed with the Malignaggi performance. I thought he looked slow and flat even though he won every round. Malignaggi was having major problems in his training as well at the point and that's probably the worst I have ever seen him fight. That fight alone convinced me Pacquaio was gonna kill Hatton.

Yeah I wasn't all that convinced by it either. Malignaggi was winning the first by outboxing Hatton but once Ricky knew he wasn't gonna get hurt he was able to just walk through Paulie. Hatton was still open all night. I remember watching that fight a few days before Pacquiao/Hatton and had the exact same thought as you. Don't think I was on the forums then.
