Former world champion Ruslan Chagaev will tackle Prizefighter winner Mike Perez on December 1 in a heavyweight battle that could lead to a world title shot for the victor.

Chagaev, 34, has won three fights in a row since missing out to Alexander Povetkin on a second reign as world title holder and may get a rematch with the Russian if he can overcome the Ireland-based Cuban.

27 year-old Perez on the other hand, is stepping up class considerably after amassing an impressive 18-0 record, which includes a bulldozing Prizefighter - The Internationals tournament win in May 2011.

The clash with take place at the Burg-Waechter Castello in Düsseldorf in a bill that is still in it's infancy and features German light-middleweight contender Maurice Weber and ex-women's world champion Susi Kentikian.

Very good fight, im skeptical about it happening though, Perez is notorious for pulling out of fights. If he actually pulled the finger out a few years ago, hed probably have got his world title shot by now.

Perez has been training in london at adam booth's gym but read a few rumours that the fight is in doubt so not sure whats going on at the min??

I live near perez in cork and he's been tipping away training all year with fights falling through on him but I know he was in great shape when he left for london he'd be out in the mornings early doin his runs. Hope this fight happens

Chaghaev said he had issues with his trainer (?) so didnt take it strange he took this one afterwards

Chagaev has looked pretty awful of late, fat and out of shape, very slow. And against very poor fighters too. Perez if he's motivated should win this.
