Shane Mosley emerged from retirement to claim a unanimous points victory over Pablo Cesar Cano in Cancun, Mexico.

'Sugar Shane', widely regarded as damaged goods after losses to Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao and Saul Alvarez in recent years, showed there was still life in his 41-year-old legs.

Cano edged the first half of the fight but Mosley upped the tempo in the sixth round and had the Mexican in trouble, only for the younger man to hit back strongly in the ninth.

The 10th round saw more good action with Mosley on top again and, although his mouthpiece was knocked out in the next, the championship rounds were bossed by the three-weight world champion and future Hall of Famer.

In a close contest, Mosley was given the nod on all three of the judges' scorecards 115-113.

It was the veteran's first victory since he beat Antonio Margarito in 2009, and his first fight since he announced he would quit 12 months ago.

I haven't seen the fight yet but for those that watched it, how did Shane look?

He didn't look that good to be honest, didn't look Roy Jones level shot but no where near as good as he used to be the reflexes and hand speed have slowed down but he looked the bigger man and used that physicality to his advantage pretty much just pounded his way to victory, He was however moving quite well and his fitness wasn't awful.

I can't really see him beating any top level fighters but he still seemed to have enough left in the tank that I'm not too worried about him getting seriously hurt in there.

Saw the first nine before the stream cut out and it was a good close fight. The 9th was a great round, both men got rocked, i had mosley 2 up going into that round and cano was edging the 9th for the first 2 minutes. Mosley did quite well, took him a while to get going though

He looked like a crafty veteran past it but not like RJJ.

He knew how to land against a lesser technician, he beat him to the punch with smarts but the combinations and pace weren't there.

He could have put Cano away in a couple spots but he has deteriorated a fair bit since Margerito. He was in trouble in a couple spots. I had recollections of the old Mongoose during the fight.

First five rounds I thought Cano was doing the better work overall. Mosley was only throwing single shots and was letting Cano get off first too often. He showed a bit of his guile on occasion and he was timing it perfectly off the back foot in the 5th.

Then in the 6th he comes out blazing and starts bowling in. Sitting down on his shots properly and asking questions. For me the fight turned here because, whilst still very competitive, Mosley started to appear the bigger and stronger man.

The second half of the fight was much more entertaining and it is hard not to be impressed Mosley's workrate and stamina in the last rounds.

He's not "back" or anything like that but he showed there is still some ability and nous there. Not to mention the capability to close out a 12 round fight on top. I reckon he'll be in there with someone near the top of the circuit before the year is out.

Broner v Malinaggi winner anyone?

I wouldn't use return I would say survives and that is terrible when you factor in Cano's level of opposition.
This is akin to RJJ's fight against Lacy.
Please retire Shane, he got hurt badly against Cano.

He fought a lot better than we've seen him in the past couple fights that's for sure. Landed some big shots at will, but it really looked like his power may of deteriorated but then again Cano also has a pretty durable chin.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing Shane Mosley fight the winner of Malinaggi-Broner

He didn't fight better he just "looked" better because of the opposition.
The same opposition that Morales made retire if that puts it into perspective.
