Any reason why we don't have standing counts? IJL would still have made a mistake in the Maccarinelli fight but at least the fight would have continued. A fight like Demarco-Molina where I didn't think it was a bad stoppage but a standing count could have allowed Molina to regroup.

The only argument I can think is for safety because it could lead to people taking a sustained beating

It's disgusting that they'd even try to get rid of standing eights. But, then again, it's disgusting that we don't have instant replay going over controversial calls for KD's, fouls, etc. Extreme ignorance that leaves wiggle room for more corruption. NBA officiating, for instance, craps all over boxing officiating.

In what way? If they are used in situation where the ref would otherwise stop it as in the 2 fights mentioned above, I can only see it adding drama
In those 2 examples in the OP I'd say the first one was just plain bad refereeing, improve the refs don't change the rules. In the second, why should a fighter be allowed to regroup and if he did would he just take more sustained damage?

I don't want the action stopping everytime theres a bit of sustained punching, thaty why I don't watch much amatuer boxing.

If a fighter uses the ropes to stop himself from going down the ref should stop the action and call it a knockdown. On the DeMarco one, Molina was sitting on the bottom rope so he should have called it a KD and not stopped the fight imo.
