An interesting list of the biggest punchers of all time & there are embedded video links.

They're a rare breed the true punchers. We don't even have a word for them, not really. Has there ever been a more inadequate vernacular in sports for what these most devastating of hitters do in the ring than "big punchers"?

Nice one. Interesting read and some interesting names on there. I would have liked to have seen the inclusion of Moore (aforementioned) and Ruben Olivares on that list though. Joe Gans and possibly Eder Jofre too.

Right on BE.

Lunny, Hearns definitely belongs. He's a lock in a fifteen, that's a low number. I think you could flip he and Foster, though obviously I lean to Foster. I can't put him below Jones. So 7 or 8 for me.

Olivares and Moore get a mention at the bottom of the article Tommy. They are at either 17, 18, 19 or 20. I can't see a case for Gans myself. Jofre, I think has a case, 20-30 would be more like it.

Just had a quick skim through the list and the lack of a mention for Jimmy Wilde and Archie Moore seems horrible to me.

Also, if there's space for Jones, there should be room for Foreman

Wilde is an extremely hard puncher, but reading the first couple of paragraphs should tidy up why he isn't there.

Moore is mentioned in the final paragraph, and would probably come in at #18.

Reading would definitely help.

:good like I've said I only read the names.

I'll have a good read through it a bit later and post my thoughts

Sure. I went a bit further with a post at the other place:

McGrain said:
Tier I: Louis, Robinson, Fitzsimmons, Langford, Tyson

Tier II: Foster, Hearns

Tier II: Armstrong, Roy Jones, Saddler,

Tier III: Jackson, Shavers, Ketchel, Arguello, Liston, Gomez

Tier IV: Moore, Zarate, Olivares, Dempsey

Not sure what to do with McGovern...there's footage but I don't like it. I don't like ranking fighters without footage of them punching.

Williams, I do think Ike was a brute, I think I would have him above McLellan, maybe Papke and Wilde, like 20-30 type range, I just don't think he is absolutely elite like you.
So Wilde isn't a millions miles away

Not a bad list all things considered, the majority of those names deserve a place. Fighter's like Olivares, Foreman, Cuevas, Moore, Wilde or Jofre are all uys who could have been included though.

I wouldn't agree with Shaver's inclusion on the list though, considering all the names left out. Yes he hit really hard, hard enough to ko some good fighters like Ellis, Norton etc. He wasn't normally the greatest finisher though, and could frequently let guys off the hook, especially at elite level. He's a step below the rest of em imo.
