What @john_newman said. I got into boxing as a teen and before I did, I thought I was in shape because like Forest Gump, "Anytime I was going somewhere, I was RUNNING".

Surprise, surprise as Gomer Pyle would say. The first time I got in the ring to spar I found out I was in absolutely no boxing shape when after 1 1/2 rounds I was totally gassed and had a hard time trying to catch my breath. And at the time I was 14, weighed 135 lbs. at 5 ft. 8 in. tall, so I was pretty wiry.

To me, boxing is one of the most complete body forms of exercise you can undertake.
