Also noted on Boxrec, Abner Mares will defend his WBC Super Bantamweight title against Italian Christian Esquivel, who the only name on his record is Jesus Ruiz, who i think is the Twin of young Mexican starlet Hugo. This takes place in Mexico 25th August.

I'll tweet Frankie Jr to see if this is confirmed or just speculation

 JMM looking to get that win over a Filipino. But nah good that he's staying active i believe it's just talks at the moment but they'd have to get a move on.

He's a southpaw from the Philippines, Looks like the 4th fight may well be on the way later in the year.

Yeah i dunno what there doing with Mares, the lad had Yamanaka down and i suppose has some experience but as you say underwhelming. The Super Bantamweight division is beasty! yet were not getting the fights we deserve..

It was only a flash knockdown against Yamanaka if I remember, catching him as he became a little reckless with his attack. Esquivel does hold wins over Munyai and Ruiz, so he is decent, but he was handled relatively easily by Yamanaka (a good fighter, but nothing exceptional) and is an underwhelming choice of opponent for Mares.

One boxer I like the look of is Antonio Orozco, a 14-0 light welterweight.

First time I saw him was on a Club Nokia bill a couple of years ago and he impressed me. Although I haven't seen any footage of him since then (so I'm not sure how he is improving), I have been following his progress and things seem to be going well.

Apparently he'll appearing on the Showtime card this Saturday, which is a very solid show :good

I hope not LP, Marquez is the man, but he shouldn't be fighting guys like this.
Hopefully just a tune up for Manny, like @Mandanda said :good

Yet to see him, but he's on my boxrec watch list, give give a gander now :good

Has anyone much of Ivan Morales, Erik's brother lately. Hes still undefeated, I wonder how good he is?
Think i seen him once, was on an undercard in Mexico with Ricardo Lopez son. can't remember who was headlining it now, IIRC it was when Boxnation first started and had it on free view

Rafa Marquez V Wilfredo Vasquez Jnr is a better fight than al those mentioned so far and deserves some love. A well matched fight imo and could have some fireworks. Rafa is on his way down but has enough left to give Vasquez a hard nights work.

Vasquez isn't the best boxer out there but you gotta give him credit for taking tough fight after the other. i actually hope he wins as I'd like to see a rematch with Arce.

Yea could be a little cracker this 1, hope Rafa can pull 1 last good performance out and pull out the win, i wouldn't mind settling for Marquez Vs Arce :yep

Would be nice to see him go back to Nacho, think Daniel Zaragoza will be training him for this fight though
