This is our own Hall of Fame whereby we get to discuss who deserves to go in. There's always people debating the IBHOF and the people it inducts so why not start our own and then we can decide between us who goes in.

We'll pick one person a week and debate whether they should go into the HOF and then I or one of the other writers can write a historic piece up about them.

Rules

1. The boxer must have been retired for 4 years before eligibility.

2. Five boxers will be selected weekly and go into a poll for induction. The fighters up for nomination can be discussed here and then decided who to put in a separate thread for polling options.

3. A nominated boxer can't be put forward for a further 6 weeks once he has gone up for nomination.

4. First and foremost, boxing must be considered the main reason for election. other factors can be considered but this is a boxing hall of fame not a who's the most popular contest.

5. The nationality of the boxer from the previous weeks winning poll is barred for the following weeks nominations - so as to give it a world wide HOF feel rather than who has been most popular in the USA for example.

6. Inductees into the world boxing HOF will automatically be inducted into their domestic leagues should they have worked their way up through their said domestic league.

7. For any non-boxing categories, boxing resume's become invalid. E.g if your going to get in as a coach then it is because your coaching resume is outstanding and not because they we're substandard at both.

8. Domestic inductions must have a resume relevant to their domestic scene at the time. They don't necessarily have had to fought for the title but should have at least had fought a fair share of domestic rivals.

9. One boxer will be inducted into the CHB HOF every week.

10. One coach will be inducted each month.

11. One domestic boxer will be inducted each fortnight.

12. One observer/non participant will be inducted each month.

13. One female will be inducted each quarter.

14. One amateur will be inducted bi-monthly.

15. One bare-knuckle era boxer will be inducted each month.

Inductees

Boxers:

Sugar Ray Robinson
Muhammad Ali
Roberto Duran
Sugar Ray Leonard
Jack Johnson
Joe Louis
Harry Greb

Trainers/Coaches:

Ray Arcel

Observer/Non-Participant:

Harry Carpenter

Domestic:

British:

This is an awesome idea.

We're doing one inductee a week? I think any of SRR, Henry Armstrong, Sam Langford and Willie Pep would be perfect for opening inductee's.

This is amazing. I'll defo throw shit loads of suggestions in as the thread progresses. We should discuss resumes and post vids etc, get some justice for cats like Lloyd Marshall who as far as I know never got his spot in a boxing hall of fame.

Well in @chatty

Marshall is in mate. I think from the black murderers row guys, the ones who never got there chance (so Moore/Charles excepted) that Bivins, Burley, Marshall, Cocoa Kid and Holman Williams are in. So that will leave Jack Chase, Eddie Booker, Elmer Ray, Aaron Wade and Bert Lytell to discuss from those who aren't in the IBHOF.

Oh ok, I'm made up he's in. Great news to me that is. From the ones you just threw out there that aren't in the IBHOF I would say that Lytell would be my priority.

Yeah we'll defo have to have a coach wing and observer wing. Maybes even beat the IBHOF to it and have a female wing and an amateur wing as well. Let's be diplomatic and not leave anyone out of ours.

We could maybes even break it down and have domestic wings for those that had an impact on the sport but not quite at world level.

So how should we do this. Maybes we could have a few inductees. A boxer each week. One coach each month. One observer each quarter and the same for the Domestic halls.

So it would effectively have one inductee every normal week, two once a month and four one week each quarter.

Ant thoughts or other ideas on how to do this?

I think we should all pick 15 boxers and 2 trainers each. Then the 10 most mentioned boxers and 1 most mentioned trainer are automatically inducted as, let's face it, SRR, Ali etc) will all make the list anyway, so it won't be much of a debate early on.

Then we can crack on with a debate. Maybe do a British one and international fighter a week?

Good idea, get it rolling with a massive list and then add one-two per week

How about first week get everyone sending in a list of 15 boxers/coaches/observers/domestic and then have a starter induction of 7 boxers, 1 coach, 1 observer and 1 domestic (people choose which domestic hall)

For domestic I would have USA, GB, Ireland Mexico, Puerto Rico, Japan, Argentina as the main ones and then take each other country when someone comes up worthy from them.

I think that'll be the best way but all the writers are going to have to pick a couple of inductees each and then possibly try and announce one every day once they have been picked so as to not go overboard with it straight away.

What do you's want to do, vote live on here or ill be happy to take PM's or we can do both?
