This fuckin' fight, man. The skill level these two were operating at was ridiculously high. It was basically a high-octane chess match, and one of the greatest fights I've ever seen. It's absolute heaven for lovers of the Sweet Science.

Toney's counter right hand was something special. At one point during the fourth round IIRC McCallum doubled up the jab and then shot the right. James masterfully rolled it and caught McCallum with a flush, perfectly timed right hook. Absolutely amazing stuff.

If you haven't already watched it, check it out for yourself. It's truly breathtaking to watch the two go at it. A pair of genuine boxing legends in brilliant shape delivering a modern classic.

:thumbsup Do it. It's a lovely fight, possibly the most aesthetically pleasing of the modern era. If you do score it, be sure to post your card.

One of my favourite fights, Toney 115-113.

The rematch is quality, though its more tactical than their 1st fight with fewer exchanges. McCallum makes a great adjustment & spends more time on the back foot trying to draw leads from Toney & he won the fight imo.

Their 3rd fight is a pale & bloated imitation of the first 2.

Thank you for the info. :good That's an astute tactical move on McCallum's part to force Toney to be the aggressor and counter his leads.

After their 1st fight Mike was smart enough to know he couldn't go toe-to-toe with Toney & win, James was just too good & too strong.

McCallum was such a clever fighter in rematches, vs Kalambay 2 he was far more aggressive & beat the guy who completely schooled him first time round.
