According to Zanfer Promotions, WBA world flyweight champion Hernán "Tyson" Marquez (34-2, 25KOs) will challenge the flyweight king of the WBO, Brian ¨Hawian Punch¨ Vilora (31-3, 18KOs), on a tentative date of September 29 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

Marquez is not very satisfied with his close split decision victory over Filipino Fernando Lumacad, which took place this past Saturday.

"I felt a lot of pain in the right ankle from the third round on. Lumacad did not want to fight, and he stayed far away and his sole intention was to finish the fight standing. I could not cut him off," Marquez said.

"The fight against Lumacad gave me a good idea that 115-pounds is not yet my ideal weight, so I'll remain a little longer at 112-pounds. I plan to challenge Viloria in September. Viloria is tough, but his style is good for me because Viloria loves to fight."

Marquez will soon meet with his team to work out a strategy for training and then he plans to begin his next camp on August 5th.

Great fight - ill be looking forward to this one.

I haven't seen Marquez fight from the weekend but they said he struggled. It should be explosive due to their styles though however long it lasts.
Same, I've been looking for it but it hasn't yet surfaced on YouTube or SoSo to my knowledge. Apparently he struggled with the added weight and looked a bit out of shape. The fact that Lumacad seemingly set out to frustrate him from the get-go can't have done much to aid that either. The reports suggest he had to chase Lumacad for much of the fight, which I don't think Marquez is particularly comfortable in doing. Well, not many are, but you get my point.

Roman Gonzalez has been added to the undercard against a yet to be named opponent. Assuming the event indeed happens, of course.

Really hope this card goes through. I can't envisage Chocolatito's opposition being anything too significant, perhaps they're planning on potentially matching him with the winner? Hmm, whatever happens this'll be a damn good card if it transpires.

Man, Gonzalez Vs The Winner would be ace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Viloria seems to fall to bits when he tries to be consistent at the very top level, Marquez may well be struggling with the weight. They can both bang, so mit's a really intriguing fight where I'd be genuinely hard pressed to pick a winner.

Hope they have plans to match Gonzalez with the winner, that would be two quality fights in a row and bring a bit more attention to the division and the overall winner. Theres some good quality down in the small mans leagues at the minute, its about time they all got matched up.

Tyson Marquez Says "No Weight" Issues in Camp

Fully and satisfactorily responding in each round, Hernan "Tyson" Marquez ended the strong stage of his preparation on Thursday to test himself to 12 rounds, and was reported ready and in excellent physical and mental condition to face the biggest fight of his career.

"Tyson" (34-2-0, 26 KOs) will face Brian "Hawaiian Punch" Viloria (31-3-0, 18 KOs) on Saturday November 17 at the Sports Arena in Los Angeles - with the Flyweight world championships of the WBA and WBO at stake. The fight will be transmitted in Mexico through Casa del Boxeo, Azteca 7 and in the U.S. by Wealth TV.

In the semi-final match, Nicaraguan Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez will expose his WBA Jr. Flyweight title against Mexico's Juan Estrada in a fight scheduled for twelve rounds.

After three months of preparation into two stages concentrated in Oxnard, California, with a multi-disciplinary team led by his trainer Robert Garcia, 24 year old Tyson said he was strong, fast and very motivated to face this unification bout against a fighter known as "Mexican executioner".

"Sparring for twelve rounds went great and it felt great. I was strong, fast, with good resilience and endurance, this sparring stage ends today, but the preparation continues. We'll do exercises and aerobics, recreational and regenerative training, equipment, mittens, evrything all to maintain condition and weight" said Sonoran pride.

¨Never in my career, nine days away from the scale, have I been so close to the range of my division, it is the result of a great job with my trainer Robert Garcia and his team, and all this gives me more motivation towards my victory. I've done a lot of preparation. The test of sparring for twelve rounds was intense because he fought me with everything, however, I want to thank Hanzel Martinez, Eduardo Valenzuela and Steve Martinez who helped me in my boxing sessions and I want to say to the people that I will give my best in the ring and it will be a great fight, but the victory is going to Mexico."
