The WBC and WBA have been taking the piss for a while now with their multi-world champions per sanctioning body, super belts, diamond belts, champion in remitius belts, silver belts, interim belts, refusing to sanction unification's etc etc.

The WBO along with the others have sanction massively shitty championship matches some of who aren't even in the top 50/100 in the world. Each body has a top 15 in which in generally doesn't include others from the other bodies list which thus waters down each division and leads to shit fights whilst also giving the boxers an easier way to avoid big fights.

Simply put there are too many belts. So how do we get some of them unrecognized as legit world titles and which do we choose. I think media outlets and fans have to make a start on this to get the ball rolling, once they aren't recognized by media outlets who won't plug them as world champs or world title fights then boxers will be less likely to fight for said organization.

I opt for WBC and WBA first, they are the oldest and have a richer history but they have out-rightly taken the piss the last few years (the WBC especially). There are many other problems with boxing but I ultimately believe if we got rid of two belts then the sport would massively change as the results of this would effect other factors of the sport.

The campaign is on -rid the WBC (unless you want to vote for another belt) poll at the top.

Fuck you Suliaman

the ibf are generally good, no shitty diamond/super/interim/pacific-asia shit, sure they have intercontinentals but ill let that slide and generally theyve been good at keeping their champions in check (though recently we had cloud-campillo robbery and peterson being a confessed roider that they slipped up on) so they would be my belt of preference, the rest is much of a muchness

Not really, I think they were right on that one.

Instead of jumping the gun (and making a quick buck on Khan-Garcia) they did an independent investigation, and found that the treatment wasn't performance enhancing.

ye i see your point, it did smack of "quick lets get an extra sanctioning fee in" from the WBA, but what did the IBF do to punish Peterson? He's still champ isnt he?

I don't think they did anything, because they found that he didn't do much wrong.

he didnt get an exemption for medicinal use did he? and i dont see why his testosterone levels would need to be that high (if i recall wasnt it over 3.5:1?), it sets a precedent to go down the MMA route of hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil with regards to testosterone and has cast a cloud over his victory, imo of course

They are run by Jose Sulaiman
They have loads of bullshit titles
They manipulate their rankings to promote certain fighters
They strip titleholders for no reason so certain fighters can fight for vacant belts
They don't enforce mandatories on certain title holders
They now refuse to sanction unification contests

certain = popular mexican

...in the swamp that is global sanctioning bodies, the stench of the WBC still manages to stand out
