Yeah, I think everyone can be forgiven for being somewhat skeptical about this, Vanes doesn't exactly have the best of track records. Didn't he turn down an offer of fighting Angulo in a final eliminator on HBO in favour of fighting Richard Gutierrez on a Top Rank PPV last year?

Wouldn't be surprised if Lara stopped him to be honest, I have suspicions about Martirosyan's chin.

I think Lara will have an easy time with Vanes. Vanes is not really a pressure fighter, so Lara will have the luxury of picking his shots when and how he pleases.

Both have agree to fight on undercard of Pacquiao's Nov 10th date. Good fight nice to see Vanes finally fight someone of note.

I talked to Lara's adviser, Al Haymon, today - and they confirmed that Lara signed the contract and is ready to go. The reason he didn't sign it before is because he actually got it late. He just had to review it, but it's all done. I understand that in the contract it stipulates that the fight will happen on November the 10th, at the MGM Grand as part of the Pacquiao card. We are ready to go and now let's see if Martirosyan is actually going to get into the ring. I have my doubts but based on the way they are talking I guess he will - which is great," Schaefer told BS.

BC - Bob can you give us an update on this whole Manny Pacquiao situation?

BA - Yes everything will be decided by the weekend. I have had meetings with everyone and by Monday afternoon we will announce the place, the opponent, and the date. Don't go overboard on this statement that the fight has to be on December 1st because of Manny's election. The election commission just ruled in The Philippine's that Manny can authorize somebody to file for him. He doesn't have to be back in October. Manny can have an authorized representative file his papers for him.

BC - Can you put an end to the Mayweather speculation? People are saying that the move to December was because Manny wanted to fight Mayweather.

BA - From what we best can gather, Mayweather is not going to fight this year. We hope to meet with them as soon as possible to work out an arrangement for a fight with him and Pacquiao for the Spring of next year.

BC - Is the Nov 10th date for Pacquiao's next fight still good?

BA - It looks that way, yes.
