So in effect Khan has left Roach because he didn't like taking a second seat to Manny Pacquaio and moved to Virgil Hunter to take a second seat to Andre Ward.

Hunter does have a smaller stable though so he should get more one on one time which would be good for him but this just reeks of Amir neglecting to take blame for his own faults and passing them on to Roach in order to maintain an ego that he is some sort of hard done by pound for pound superstar.

Wow, this is incredible. Now Khan will have the offensive capabilities of Pacquiao with the defensive wizardry of Andre Ward. Awesome.

To be fair though, if Khan wants to improve his inside work and defence, which are some of his weakest points, then Hunter looks like a good choice.

Lets see how the kid reacts, this may be a good move.

No doubt Hunter will work heavier on defence with him which is a good thing. It should be interesting to see how his style unfolds under Hunter because Amir has shown throughout that his instinct is to be offensive and neglect his defence. If he starts focussing on defence strongly then its likely to take something away from his offence.

Amir really just needs to adopt the tactcis he used in the Kotelnik fight more whereby he gets his shots of and sets back off round the ring. Lately he has been just laying against the ropes or being macho and brawling.

Agree on the Kotelnik point, that fight was actually a turning point on my view of Khan, it made me think he could go to bigger things as I rated Kotelnik quite highly. The way Khan fought then you almost felt that it's how he would fight under Steward, it certanly makes more sense than his gameplan against Peterson and Garcia. I'd say the blame for that sits firmly with Khan though, and not Roach.

It won't matter when he gets hit again and decides "sod it, I'll have a tear up and prove I can take a punch"

It's not his defence per se but how he reacts when he gets hit.

Yeah i agree on both. I'm expecting him to have one or two very disciplined fights and look good (possibly against both Hatton brothers;)) then let his ego get the better of him and get bombed out again of matthysee, Alvarado, Rios or Garcia again.

Khan: Sorry bro, Was just sending a tweet. You wanna see how fast i can go on the pads?.

I really was hoping that Amir's new trainer would be Rex Kwon Do.

After one week with Rex in his dojo, Amir will be prepared to defend himself with the STRENGTH of a grizzly, the reflexes of a PUMA, and the wisdom of a man.

Hunter is probably one of the best choices Khan could make IMO and suggests he is serious about making the necessary improvements to maximise his abilities. Whether it works out or not is a different matter but it is a bold move, a positive one for Khan I feel.

I agree with this. I think he is wrong placing all of the blame on Roach for his flaws, but at least he recognises the improvements he needs to make for him to succeed at the top level. Hope it works out, but I can't see him suddenly becoming a defensive wizard. He will still get involved in tear-ups and will, as far as I can see, inevitably implode again in the future. Good luck to him though.

Khan needs a coach who can address his shit balance, his non existent inside game and someone who will tell him his chin is less than stellar and to stop trying to prove you're some manly man and realise that boxing is a science, not some weird machismo driven dick waving competition.
