You're not disappointed with the channel?
Not really, no.
I understand that it is a fashionable thing to bash BoxNation - although, not surprisingly, negative talk of the channel hushed up during April and May - but I believe that the channel provides value for money more often than not.
In the space of three months, we'll have had 2 PPV-calibre shows, assuming Haye-Chisora goes ahead (and it is a PPV attraction, whatever you think of it). So for £30 we've got Mayweather-Cotto and the aforementioned Haye-Chisora, the price we would have to pay for these via other outlets if they were PPV. Yet, with BN, we have on top of those shows the likes of Huck-Afolabi II, Kessler-Green, the fantastic Tarver-Kayode card and whatever else is coming up in the next two or so months. You can also throw in a dozen Bunce hours and archive fights (they have started to show them; I seen Winky-Simon the other day). Still, people moan...
Oh, and anyone that feels Sky are doing a better job than BN with regards to boxing are either moronic or have an agenda against a certain promoter. I mean, reducing the boxing shows down from 40 to a reported 20 - great job Sky! Severing ties with Hatton Promotions and keeping Maloney around just for Price - excellent stuff! No sign of them reducing their 8-10 shows of Prizefighter every year - we are blessed to have such a played out format taking up what will be a large chunk of boxing on Sky over the following boxing season!...
Don't get me wrong, Sky are doing good things. They've got prominent fighters like Froch, Khan, Brook, Bellew, Barker, Price etc. on the channel and are promoting them well. However, them only focusing on those guys (and that's what it'll seem like will happen) will harm them building up other fighters and getting them recognition. Also, with them essentially only having Hearn's stable on show and reduced airtime, there's even more of a limit on future prospects that will be seen on the channel.
To be honest, I'm just sick of all the negativity surrounding BoxNation on the forums. It's still in its infancy, it's almost certainly operating at a loss and yet BN still provides us with decent cards, whether it be frequently or sporadically. People should be supporting BN instead of trying to bash it every chance they get.
Rant over.
