Since being promoted and managed by Frank Warren, Ricky Burns has earned just approaching three quarters of a million pounds and has had 7 world title fights in just over two years. Ricky Burns is under binding promotional and management contracts.

Following the announcement by Eddie Hearn that Ricky Burns has signed with him, W. Promotions Limited and Frank Warren are suing Burns for substantial damages.
Didn't take long

Burns has grounds to counterclaim and eddie can supply him with good lawyers, i dont think this one will go well for warren. and warren is what is known as the legal profession as a vexatious litigant so i dont think judges will look too kindly on him anymore

Can Burns not argue his contract was with the old company not F.Warren ?

Surely :eddie has it sussed
no but burns can counter claim on distress, personal costs because of warrens actions (ie, training costs), breach of contract maybe if the payment wasnt there as has been rumoured. in this case burns would probably win as he would have credible grounds to jump ship
