The purse offer for the highly anticipated British Middleweight title showdown between champion Billy Joe Saunders and John Ryder was won by Andy Ayling on behalf of Queensberry Promotions at the British Boxing Board of Control's Cardiff headquarters earlier today.

The fight was put back out to purse bids after a premature announcement by the Board had previously awarded the fight to Promoter Eddie Hearn, until it was discovered that he had failed to fill in a simple form 'correctly and in the appropriate places' as per the strict rules of a purse offer.

Ayling has two weeks to submit a date and a venue to the Board for when the two unbeaten fighters will meet for Saunders' British Championship.

If Wazza does put it on then fair enough the fighter are getting paid more and we still get to see a good fight.I think Hearn will let Ryder fight on Boxnation and I hope that wazza does stage the fight and it wasn`t a silly offer so that eventualy Saunders vacates and fight for a wbo intercontental trinket.A card of Saunders Ryder,Vassel-Gavin and Smith-Dodson and Chisora in a decent fight would be very good for the 20th of July and I would buy a ticket on the 19th if it`s still held together by then.

The things is in the long run it`s a small victory for wazza on the week that his rival has a big ppv show on sky box office. The article slating the error in Hearns purse bid is just petty imo. They crow about small victorys while losing the war at the moment like when they went on and on about Groves fight in Germany being on Boxnation when it was a knock over job at 5.30 and by doing so makes them look like a mickey mouse outfit getting a very minor little victory against the big boys.

From my contact:

"All fighters should insist on purse money for Warren fights to be lodged with the Board or placed in escrow as a condition of them turning up to fight.
He did precisely what I expected, he thought Eddie would up the bid to £100K and therefore topped it by £2K silly man. He has now signed his own death warrant"

£102,000 was the winning bid.
