Dirrell's a good shout.

Tony Jeffries, though I'm not too sure what happened there. He's focusing as a trainer or something now isn't he?

It's hard to think of real recent ones. Prince Naz and Ibeabuchi for the past 20 years.

Tony's career was ended by injury. He had a whole in his knuckle or something which was causing him excruciating pain that stopped him from boxing. From what I understand, he has opened a boxing gym with Mickey Rourke and someone else in LA. I'm sure a quick Google will reveal all.

They wouldn't be the tops I'd say, but all the Irish Cubans are lazy bastards. Living the high life in Cork.

Theres a few:

Juan Manuel Lopez - Fell in love with his power, completely neglected his defense and got knocked out. Got chance to even the score and didn't change one thing about his tactics. Got knocked out again. had plenty warnings in the lead up.

Matt Korobov - Tremendous amateur who had a bright start as a pro boxing on big American undercards. Still unbeaten but barely gets a mention, he has slipped that far of the radar.

Ismael Sylakh - bright start, looked amazing, piss fannied about, got KO'd

Amir Khan - chin can't hold up - thinks he's Robert Duran but is more like Duran Duran

Vanes Matirosyan - took ten years of fighting cans to step up and then drew after a bad cut. Still time but has been a disappointment thus far.

America - get worse and worse year after year

I think on the British scene there a few that have gone missing.

Tony Quigley former British champion beats Dodson loses a close one to Paul Smith only other early career loss is a 6th round stoppage by Nathan Cleverly, gets injured and disappears, comes back with a lacklustre draw against a journeyman after injury and weight problems with the intention of fighting in prizefighter, never seen again, last I heard was working the doors in North Wales.

Joe Selkirk, out of the famous Rotunda amateur boxing club the same crop that produced all the Smith brothers, Tony Bellew and Rocky Fielding. He was said to be the best of the lot by the head trainer there. Turned pro with Warren had a few hand problems and switches of trainers, has fought just 9 times in 4 years and has some okish scalps at LMW. 10th fight is on the Price card against an as of yet unnamed opponent should be at least at British title level now but doesnt look to be going anywhere fast.

Brett Flournoy. Came to the pro game late having been an ABA champion. started to gain some momentum at welter knocked out Yassine El Maachi and was beating McIntyre until the bout was declared a NC because Jason Rushton collapsed entered PF at the weight above beat Danny Butler and Steve O'Meara and lost in the final to Arron after being bundled down in the final. Was a classy boxer with a great shoulder roll who never fought again got into the criminal underworld and was murdered sadly.

Thats just Merseyside.....

I tend to think that how good Guzman could have been almost gets more and more overstated in correlation with how much more of a waster he becomes. There was a stage when he was at super bantam where he looked like he could be pretty superb though, I'll concede that.

Nkosinathi Joyi is an obvious choice for me, dude is an awesome fighter in my opinion but his inactivity/never leaving strawweight has been so frustrating. And of course all that culminated in him somehow losing to Mario Rodriguez a couple of months ago.

If Syllakh doesn't recover from the Grachev debacle he can be added to the list too. That fight was baffling, it wasn't as if he had his bubble burst and was "exposed" as being overrated or anything, he was just in complete cruise control while still racking up round and then just got careless and stopped. Madness. Hopefully he learns from that and doesn't take things for granted anymore as he seemed to be doing, as opposed to crumbling mentally.
