I've got a soft spot for Dennis Andries & was thinking about some of his fights that I had seen. IMO he took limited ability & achieved a remarkably good career, 2 x British champ, apparently robbed of a EBU title win & 3 time WBC L/Heavy champ.

But who would choose?

He was quite avoided and was often "the opponent" he had the world at his feet going into the Duran fight though but obviously the legend had just too much for him. But in terms of skillset it's hard saying what he was great at. And for a 3 weight titlist that's a bit of a strange un.

He was seen as a crude brawler which is basically what he was, boy was he good to watch. I prefer fighters that are not as skilled but give it a good go. Not saying I don't like skilled fighters but have a soft spot for guys who are limited (?) somewhat.

Yeah guys who win because they believe in it more, are willing to walk through fire to emerge victorious.

it's why my best boxing moment so far is froch battering bute. I was there live and it was amazing watching him walk bute down.

Andries is an excellent shout as far as being an over achiever is concerned. I don't know if I'm revising history in my own head but I recall him looking far more polished when he hooked up with Steward....
yeah he did sharpen up a bit. He achieved a lot before that tho, so I think he's a pretty good shout. he's one of my fave fighters ever.

That's exactly why I like Huck an awful lot. He really should be getting soundly out boxed by his opponents as he's a crude brawler that telegraphs his punches, but usually ends up dragging them into a fight and wearing them down. Based on talent and skill he's a big overachiever imo.

Not historic, I know. Sorry for the hijack.
