It's been nearly a week since the fight, and I'm still not sure what the consensus is on this fight. Personally, I thought there were many close rounds and it could have gone either way but I had Martinez just pulling away, how did you guys have it?

Think I had Martinez by a point but have a feeling if I rewatch it I'd probably end up scoring it to Murray.
Thats a good point, I feel the same. That's the danger with rescoring I feel, we have the benefit of hindsight, we've seen replays etc, we're influenced by punditry sometimes, that's why I very rarely rescore, I stick with the score I had on the night as if I were a judge

Sounds a bit strange but sometimes it's fairer to have hindsight when scoring a fight, rather than preconceived ideas about how it will go. Without really thinking about it, a lot of rounds I gave to Martinez, I probably only gave to him because I knew more about him.

That's true as well, I do feel I gave him rounds where maybe watching it back or seeing replays from different angles I might see his work wasnt landing as clean as I had thought, and Murray might nick it on my card. But then it's almost like I feel the judges got it wrong, even though live, on the night, the same situation they had, I did score it to Martinez

You seem to use this line a lot and I don't agree with it. If anything, I think more people scored it to Martinez because they fought he'd win.

I think I'm more like you, Roe, in that I sort of gave rounds to Martinez by default as I was expecting him to win them.

I think whichever way you slice it up, it's a razor thin win either way. Murray's stock has risen and I fear it may be the last we see of Martinez, certainly the last we'll see of him near to his best.

The difference between that Martinez and the Martinez of the Chavez fight was shocking, he just didn't have the movement of head or foot to be the Maravilla we know

I find it's often true. It definitely was for Alvarez-Trout. As it was for Cotto-Mayweather.

There's just no strong argument that there was a clear winner in the Martinez fight. It's one side overstating their guy's success while trying to dismiss the other's.
