Anyone else slightly interested in this?

Saying I'm looking forward to it might be going too far as Wach is, for want of a better term, shite.

He's got the height on Klitschko though and that's something you don't often see. He doesn't seem like he has the ability to use that height but I'm still hoping it brings a little something different out of Wlad. Guys like Wlad who've been on top of their game for so long it's always nice to see them bring something else in if you get me?

Wach has a chin on him though - in the literal sense

As you said, he's shite. Klitschko will beat him silly like he does all of his crap opponents.
Yeah but he might have to fight differently rather than stick the left out and hold it there. We might see a couple of counter-right hands!

 Fuck, it's hard to defend this shit...

That massive chin should have an archery target drawn on it. You could fit a fucking full sized dart board on that.

 He could poke your eye out with it too. Wlad better be wary of that.

Who's training him for this fight btw?

Johnathon Banks, I shit you not. Bit strange but I suppose he's pretty much training himself and using banks to hold the mitts etc. This is another side of this fight that has me curious about what we'll see from him.

There's no doubt about the result but how he fights is gonna be interesting imo.

Also there should be a fitting tribute to Steward in there.

No interest, there isn't a heavyweight fight out there that intrigues me at the moment. Just hoping when Price and the other youngsters move up to that level it gets a bit more exciting.
Price vs Fury
Chisora vs Fury 2
Haye vs Vitali
Even Haye vs Wlad 2

Those would be at the very least intriguing for me.

Jonathan Banks? Fucking hell that's a strange one. Though I suppose Wlad hardly needs much training really.

I actually don't think Wach is shit. I think he's ponderous and untested past a C-level, we all know the bad news there, but I think he's got a pretty decent offensive diversity, power and durability. I think he's formidable on a top 15-25 type level until proven otherwise, better or worse. I think he's got the strength, size and serviceable enough skill to be considered a fair stay-busy defense. I actually don't mind it and am also a little bit interested in the sheer novelty of it, even though I think it will likely end up a showcase fight. But, frankly, I like showcase fights. One of my favorite heavies of all time, Larry Holmes, some of my favorite performances of his were against guys like Ocasio, who were utter no-hopers with Larry. Unfortunately, Volo's the kind of guy who doesn't necessarily shine against his poorer opposition...or his best opposition. It's just not the way he is, with rare exception of guys like Austin. He's a winner, not a spectacular winner.

But, still, I don't mind it and look forward to when the title is up for grabs. I, by far, would take so-so defenses over sitting on the title and waiting for the next guy to establish himself or some mega fight to fall into the lap of the champ. If you ask me, it makes the better champion, to deal out some Wepnerian opportunities to any takers while legit contenders are sorting themselves out. I like to see the best fighters in a division work. Give me a choice to see FMJ either A. Do nothing until he gets bored and wants to go on a spending spree and start to build up a fifteen month PPV fight to fund his next 15 month vacation or see Mayweather give a small shot against Abregu and Porter, three or for months apart, that likely ends in a very nice clinic, and I take B every time. Without hesitation. More great footage of a historically important fighter. Lay it on me.

Boente: Klitschko Will Not Make Same Mistake as Huck

The manager of IBO/WBO/WBA/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko's Manager, Bernd Boente, promised that Wladimir will not make the same mistake as WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck. Boente believes Huck underestimated 42-year-old former champion Firat Arslan, and because of that he was nearly beaten on Saturday night in Germany. This coming Saturday night, in Hamburg, Wladimir will face his first super heavyweight challenger, unbeaten Polish contender Mariusz Wach.

"In the fight against Mariusz Wach, Wladimir will not make the mistake that WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck made in his fight against comebacking compatriot Arslan. We remind you that in fact Huck completely lost that fight, but the judges gave him the victory on points," Boente said.

"Wladimir will be facing, for the first time in his career, a taller opponent. And that enhances the intrigue. We know that Mariusz cannot be underestimated. We will not make a mistake like the one from this past weekend, that Huck made against Arslan. The Poles believe that our previous [Polish] opponents - Tomasz Adamek and Albert Sosnowski - were not natural heavyweights - unlike Wach - who has the opportunity to write his name in history books by becoming the first world heavyweight champion [from Poland]."

Yeah, I agree, it's a good way of looking at it. He's keeping active and we might see the best out of him. It's well worth the watch.

I get the same with fighters, you just want to see them do their thing perfectly. People often say Ali's best performance was against Cleveland Williams, Cleveland Williams was a very solid contender but still, with all the people Ali faced he probably wouldn't make the top 15.
