Hi lads,

It's been a while since I've seen one of these, feel free to add your own or rip mine to pieces. Since the last one I've seen Khan, Brook, Froch and Haye have all fought, so it should look different at the top end from last time;

  1. Carl Froch
  2. Ricky Burns
  3. Amir Khan
  4. Kell Brook
  5. Nathan Cleverly
  6. David Haye
  7. Gavin Rees
  8. Kevin Mitchell
  9. Martin Murray
  10. Jamie McDonnell

...Right, I'm struggling with the order, so I'll just throw it out there as is.

Few notable omissions. Groves, as he hasn't fought in ages and DeGale has had a couple decent wins since they fought. Price and Fury - I think they'd be outside the top 10. Barker & Macklin, you could substitute some fighters from 7-10 for them, if you wanted.

Thoughts?

Not bad :good

I think Ola Afolabi definitely needs to be in the list somewhere (between 5-8 for me).

I'd have the top 4 like: Froch, Haye, Khan, Burns.

The last 3-4 places on the list is up for grabs, really. Plenty of candidates that are feasible.

There's lots of competition out there, I wouldn't argue with many lists, so long as Froch is #1.

Cleverly could and probably should be higher, but realistically he ought to have belted Karpency into next week, instead of labouring for 12 rounds and looking useless in the process. He's going backwards unfortunately. The Clev of the Murat fight would have wasted that joker inside three rounds, IMO.

Selby, McDonnell, Munroe, Bellew, Barker, Groves, DeGale, Mitchell, M Murray, Fury, Buckland and Haskins all in contention, too.

I'd trade McDonnell for Macklin, but other than that, it's a solid list.

I was going to put Clev at number one. :yep

I find it difficult to place Haye, in the last few years he's beaten Audley and Chisora, both domestic level and lost to Wlad. :conf
With this being a P4P list, I have to give Haye extra credit for going against those guys that were 30-40lbs heavier than him. It's the equivalent of a lightweight/light welter going against a middleweight.

Actually agree with Kos pretty much 100%. Although I'd maybe argue that Cleverly is too high but then it's hard to place many above him either.

The top 5 is nailed on for me, I don't see how anyone can have it any different to Froch, Haye, Khan, Burns then Ola tbh. After that it becomes harder to rank.

I wouldn't have Khan higher than Haye after recent events. Sure Haye lost to Wlad, but Wlad's the man to beat. And he didn't get KOd. Khan got KTFO by a guy who wasn't touted for the big time. Plus his loss to Peterson. Nah Haye has to be higher.

1. Haye
2. Froch

3. Khan
4. Burns

5. Rees
6. Cleverly

7. Brook
8. Afolabi
9. McDonnell

10. Rendall Munroe

Might look a bit strange to some but here's a few reasons why:

For me, I rate achievements first, above potential/talent, unbeaten records etc or popularity.
I also give Haye big credit for fighting guys 'divisions' heavier than him e.g. Haye v Wlad compared to Froch v Ward. That's a bigger loss for Froch to me due to the physical advantages had over Froch. This is P4P afterall, for me this should matter. Also Haye has effectively cleaned out a division whilst Froch hasn't. Its close but Haye is number one for me.

I think I might be taking recent form into consideration while rating Haye too much, I pretty much disregarded his CW tenure as I'm only really looking at recent form/status.

That's the thing people have different ways of rating P4P; a different weighting of everything from achievements, talent, opposition faced amongst others.

Same top 5 as AdamCanavan
Not happy at some of you having Burns as low as 4, he's clear number 2 imo, Froch is obviously #1, don't really see how anyone can say different, after that Khan and Haye can be swapped around but think they both rank above anyone else. I have Ola at 5 but he could be a bit lower. The last 5 spots can go to any 5 of about 1o fighters, with the only ones I think really should be in there being Brook and Cleverly.
6. Cleverly
7. Brook
8. Macklin
9. Rees
10. Barker (he's probably not, but can't decide, so meh)

EDIT: Really though the bottom half of the list is really hard to choose and could really be in pretty much any order.
