As much as I commend your research and it's a persuasive argument for Joshua being matched well,I can't help feeling 'lies, damned lies and statistics' comes to mind.

A fighters record isn't what counts,it's much more important how good they are.the Italian on his debut for example had a padded record plus Dorian Darch has never beat anyone with a respectable wining record.as for Paul butlin his last 20 fights include 16 losses.

But criticism of his first 5 fights is unwarranted,he is feeling his way around the professional ranks and I expect him to increase his standard of opposition in 2015.
Spot on,at least they are getting through these fights quick, by October after 12 months as a pro he should be at around the 9 fight mark which is pretty good in this day and age and I wouldn't be surprised if by the end of the year he`s becomes the British champion.Price was still fighting journeymen after 2 years and wasn`t British champion until his 3rd year as a pro.

I don't think it's that bad, we just have to grin and bear it when a prospect is getting excessive exposure. Eddie is picking fighters who have taken other fighters rounds. Kisicek and Darch were selected on the basis that they did six with Hughie Fury, Avilla is getting the gig on the back of taking Del Boy nine rounds. Entirely logical strategy and a useful way of defending his selections if/when AJ knocks them out early.

Yeah fair comment.

It would be nice to see Joshua go 6 or 8 against a strong heavy who could take his power, but that won't be happening tomorrow.

No I agree his matchmaking is ok,as long as they aren't total bums or debutants then it's fine for now.

As for the names mentioned in your post.alexander povetkins cv is actually very good for a heavyweight in this era.he was matched well from the off,as was another good amateur kubrat pulev.but they were older when turning pro, weren't they?
Yes and had way more am expirience.

Amateur Records
Klitshcko 134-6
Povetkin 125-7
Lewis 94-11
Joshua 31-3

If any of them should be moved slowly its Joshua.
Now they are some good stats.

It's so important to bear this in mind when discussing prospects and their matchmaking, the same could be said for the likes of Eubank Jnr who had only 23 bouts.

No way better than LL at same stage. LL had more pedigree as well. No idea if LL early fights was televised back than that's a bigger issue for me.
I also have a problem with these mismatches being televised live. Highlights would be fine and have better under card fights instead but these guys are an easy sell so i understand why they are on the TV cards.

Patience lads, we don't want another Price scenario.
Prices issue was he stepped from lower domestic to world level with nothing in between. Basically he should of had 2/3 fights against all the guys Chisora & Fury have been fighting like Johnson, Gerber, Pala, Pajkik, Firtha, Maddelone in between.

Does somebody have a gun to your head forcing you to watch? I guarentee if they put the full Joshua & Campebll on Sky Sports 3 or the Red Button and showed highlights on the main card, you would would watch the full fight.

Obviously no one has a gun to my head, that's absurd ha. I won't be watching Ogogo's fight or Cardle's fight and i;ll only watch the Joshua mismatch because its just before the main. They don't interest me, they prove nothing and you learn nothing. I'll be none the wiser about Johsua or Ogogo after Saturday. As i said "highlights" would be fine with me, not going to happen though and i understand why.

So you are not really a very good judge of fighters ability's or potential. Thsts ok, not everyone can be.

You are very wrong.

Your mother and father are ashamed of you, Duffy.
Another disgusting needless comment.

Cunt isn't even the word for someone like you, it is usually for 90% of situations on here. But not for you. You are an exception.

YET you continue to post in these threads? Whoever it is by that you dislike? Time and time again?

I don't get it!

I hope you're prepared for the shit that is about to come your way in life. Don't blame anyone else when it does. Just sit by yourself looking in the mirror.

If we introduced my fight league to boxing. Anthony Joshua would be forced into fighting better opposition early on. We'll find out pretty quickly if he has what it takes and if he doesn't we move on and forget about him before we even fall for any hype.
