I watched him on YouTube against Christoper Martin. Seemed like a bit of a plodder to me, he didn't have the greatest workrate but seemed pretty compact with decent fundamentals. Might chuck a 20 down to make it interesting. (Watch him get blasted out in a round)
I have like 15 £'s on him by any method at 6/1. He beat Walters twice in the am's, and given Walters health issues, and genuine effort to make weight it's definitely worth a few bucks. Plus, i have my questions whether Walters can take a shot, and if nothing else, Marriaga can definitely punch a bit.

i said "alot" wasnt targeting any individual
Fucking bite!!!

I'm in the mood to have a moan

Don't really post on here much so I can't say if you do, but in my experience Japanese fighters do get overrated.
I think that's fair enough to say. Even the top guys in Japan are not well known by 99% of forum users, so I can see why some overrate them to try and appear 'in the know'.

It's just that I'm one of the few people on the British forum that posts regularly about Japanese boxers, so I assume people are including me in those types of 'Japanese boxers get overrated'-type posts. I like to think I rate boxers fairly and not base it on their nationality!

Has the family acne too. In his defence I think he's had 8 fights in his life according to the commentator.
Fair enough, that's right.

I don't think he looks big enough for HW either, perhaps Cruiser would be his level.

Takes alot for me to bite. :smoke

Oh how the mighty have fallen. HW slickster Larry O, just lost his 12th straight fight, to David Abraham, who was 1-0 before this fight :verysad
Remember that time where he actually looked a tiny bit slick in frustrating Sam Sexton for a few rounds?

Must have been pumped up with every performance-enhancing substance known to man to have put on such a performance...

If it helps, i doubt anyone on here who is familiar with you considers you to be one to over-hype any fighter, Japanese or not.

Some of the top Japanese fighters that I've seen do look very good, but if you can get them out of Japan anyone close to world level has a good chance against them IMO. For whatever reason Japanese fighters don't tend to travel well, no Japanese fighter has ever won a world title in Europe, but very few fighters go to Japan and win.

I think unless Walters has tricked us all by making us belief he's drained as fuck, if it goes past 6 he loses.
He's also been dropped in the past and Marriaga is a puncher.
Yeah, he also beat Walters twice in the am's.
I don't question for a second that Walters made a huge effort to make weight. I believe that he stated earlier in the week that he wanted to stay at Feather and defend that belt for a long, long time.

That's true, although there aren't too many cases of Japanese fighters actually travelling abroad - at least outside of Asia. And if they do, they are typically the underdogs in the first place. The real top guys, the Uchiyama's, Inoue's, Ioka's, Hasegawa's, Yamanaka's of the world, don't fight outside of Japan. Although Nishioka is a recent example that goes against that precedent, and he did rather well in beating good fighters in Jhonny Gonzalez and Rafael Marquez.

But their overall success outside of Japan is certainly below standard, there's no denying that.
