I've only seen clips so far, so please correct me if I'm off base here. Looks like LSC was outboxing GD until the hammer was laid, is that right?
It was a war, start to finish. GD started to time him prior to LSC getting knocked out. Then LSC came back after that round then got decapitated. LSC fought a very exciting fight, but considering how cautious he was fighting Abner Mares, it was kind of crazy seeing him just keep coming forward against the bigger man.

Compubox gives you an idea. LSC was doing well, but the last couple of rounds, despite fighting back well and landing a lot, you could see that LSC was taking more damage from GD's punches than the other way around. Thus, the statistics, going in favour of LSC, does not reveal how the fight was developing really. The KO punch was brilliant, but it was also a punch that GD set up and it was just a matter of time (the way things looked after 4-5 rounds) I think before he'd land something big that could KD or KO LSC. Having said that, LSC looked very game for the first few rounds. The problem was that GD did more damage with his punches. Against a less heavy handed opponent LSC could still win a belt I think.

I don't think anyone can keep up with LSC's ridiculous workrate. He hit Tank with the kitchen sink to no avail.

Issue is, and I said this from the start, he's far too small to ever think he should compete at 130. He's tall and lanky, but that really doesn't mean shit here. No way he can beat Berchelt, the other serious guy at 130. He can beat some of the smaller former FWs like Jojo and Valdez, but he's a no-hoper against the bigger 130 lbers.

But yeah, he was doing well before he got KO'd. Came back from the round previous where GD slowed the pace and countered him the whole round.

True. Process matters as well though. He can't be defensively lazy-ish when he's facing a big puncher.
If you think he was lazy, you either weren't really watching the fight, or you are looking for something to hate on. You bed ti watch jt agajn and see how Gervante was thinking in there. Its especially impressive when you consider the age and experience of both fighters.

He's a work in progress. His defense was good though. Anyway, he us an offensive fighter. He doesn't need to be Mayweather. He had a fantastic performance. Theres not a lot to be negative about.
Come on, his defense couldn't be called good in anyone's book. Watch his head getting snapped back in that 40 second Twitter clip leading up to the knockout. It looked like there was no defense at all, Leo's punches couldn't hurt him so he decided to take them with his face to give himself a chance to land his knockout punch. If that was good defense for Tank then he's getting his ass kicked the first time he meets a natural 130 pound fighter who can punch. I think his defense is/can be a lot better than that.

Read again. I said defensively lazy-ish i.e. defensively not super disciplined and nonchalant. It's just an observation and if anything a compliment to him because he has the talent and skill to get hit less. It's hard not to be a fan of Gervonta IMO, but that doesn't mean one can't have a critical opinion of him.
