Unfortunately, it seemed like this was coming. He was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer of the gall bladder a while ago and it didn't seem that his condition was ever improving. He fought with all his heart though and kept his spirits up during that time. It's a real shame he didn't live to see his 26th birthday - a week from today - which he desperately wanted to do. The sport of boxing will be all the worse off for losing such a talent and human being. Rest in peace, Omar.
