Hell yes! I got Donaire taking this late KO. Walters is a tough challenge but I'm not as high on him as a lot of people are.
Yeah, I'll need to see more of Walters before I'm entirely sold on him, he's shown himself to be a solid puncher so far but not much else imo.

Ofcourse, Donaire hasn't exactly looked all that at 126. He got a little lucky last time out against Vetyeka, and looked flat out terrible against Vic in the rematch.

This is a very good, intriguing match up, much better than the main event.

I've known about Walters for a long time and I'm confident that he'll actually stop Donaire, and rather early as well (AKA 5-6). Props to this fight being made and Donaire for taking it, but this is going to end badly for Nonito.
Yup, I remember you called it before time and said Walters was legit.

Yeah I agree about Walters so far. I haven't analysed Walters enough but on first instinct I see Donaire winning this. Walters is a huge guy though with a lot of power. Styles make fights and Walters-Vic in their styles are completely different.

donaire and walters are TR. this is more about HBO putting up enough dough.
- I don't think TR/GBP conflict will be getting in the way of this tournament.

Looks like the first round of the 126 tournament will take place October 18th on the Golovkin vs Rubio undercard. Lomachenko will fight his mandatory a month later then i expect him and Gradovich or possibly the winner of this one will be next. I wonder if Gonzalez, Vetyeka or Mares will be involved the first two's names had been mentioned before when talking about this.

Nonito Donaire vs Nicholas Walters as the GGG-Rubio co-feature according to @TomLoeffler1 . Whoa, this is real!!! #boxing

Give @TomLoeffler1 credit, he promised to make the best fight possible regardless of promoters, like FedEx, he delivered #boxing

Would LOVE to see all the belt holders at 126 fight each other!

I lean towards Walters, Donaire can't rely on his power so much at 126. I was hoping that Lomachenko would get to Donaire first but it's a good fight.
I expect Donaire to get knocked down multiple times and lose a competitive decision.

It's not all talk at 126lbs. They're all sorting this out. Donaire-Walters is delightfully sooner than I expected.

Donaire vs Walters for WBA
Lomachenko vs Pirinpiyo for WBO
- I think winners there will fight eachother as they're fighting at virtually the same time.

Jhonny Gonzalez vs Abner Mares for WBC
Evgeny Gradovich vs ??? for IBF (I wonder who Evgeny will fight next).

You see the effectiveness of all of this, guys? Big fights are made, but whilst there is a gap in the time where other regular champions are busy, they should be obliged to fight their no.1 contenders etc.

It all works out very nicely.

EDIT: Gonzalez had a fight with 'Clide Atwell' recently (some random). Here's the fight:

Arum, Top Rank VP Moretti, Egis Klimas the manager for Lomachenko and Gradovich have all talked about it being in the plans like its a certainty and this confirms its happening, at least with the four Top Rank titlists. Mares can grow a pair and rematch Gonzalez with his amazing Virgil Hunter style transformation and try spoiling and clinching Johhny to death.

The Pirinpiyo fight isn't part of this, after the GRJ fight Moretti and others aimed for end of 2014 early 2015 for the start date and Lomachenko took this one as a stay busy, to gain more experience and to get rid of his mandatory before the unifications. The first leg of the tourney just got signed and is happening a couple months earlier than anticipated.

I would expect Lomachenko vs Gradovich to be next but it will mean Vasyl fighting right away after this mandatory. Also after the GRJ fight when asked about him and Vasya fighting Zhenya didn't sound too enthusiastic saying something like Lomachenko should have another fight or two so he can become more well known which is ridiculous since Vasya is already more well known than Gradovich. Maybe he would have rather not faced Vasyl in the first fight, maybe them having the same manager, both being Eastern Slavs who knows the reason but i'm sure he isn't actually scared of him and when presented with the unification will take it.

Vasyl will deal with the Thai very quickly with no problems whatsoever.

Ya i watched some of the John fight and that's what i'm hoping so fighting a couple months after right away isn't an issue maybe late January or more realistically sometime February. Too bad the two unification fights couldn't be taking place within a month of eachother the Donaire/Walters winner will have to wait at least six months before their second round although that's pretty normal for most guys now a days.

Great fight. Donaire is obviously way more proven at the highest level even if he hasn't looked so good with the rise in weight and post-Rigo even more so. I like the look of Walters a lot and he might be catching Donaire at the right time. Besides an old, small Darchinyan his record is extremely empty but he looks like he might have the physical tools to get the job done.

YES!!!

Admitted Donaire fan, I actually met him at this venue a few years back. He'll bring a nice contingent of Filipino fans to the venue. This is a tough fight, could go either way. I'll be there rooting for Donaire.

Initial responses seem to be favoring Walters but after rewatching his two HBO fights awhile ago i came away less impressed than i initially was. Nonito will have to get past that long reach and jab but if Walters comes forward he'll make it easier for Donaire by leading. Walters power still isn't proven against world level guys (a shot 38 yr old natural 115lb like Vic doesn't count) and Donaire has a stellar chin so this fight will give us a real idea about his power in addition to seeing his chin tested against a good hitter in Donaire. I'm going to have to watch those HBO Walters fights again with Donaire in mind before making a pick.
The 38 yrs old and 115 lbs Vic gave Donaire a tough fight less than 1 yr ago.

Indeed then Nonito KHTFO how does that prove Walters has awesome FW power at world class level? BTW aside from the KD's their boxing was even Walters wasn't outclassing or outboxing Vic who gave him some trouble too.

It's a fun fight because both fighters still have question marks.

I've only seen Walters fight Darchinyan, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of his punch resistance. Donaire is still carrying some power up with him as he was able to hurt Vetyeka, and I wonder what will happen when Walters gets hit.

On the other hand, Donaire looked bad against Vetyeka and the fight's end was some shady shit. I'm still not sold on him at featherweight.
