PPV revenue used to be the main arguing point for Floyd fans as to why he's so great. That seems to have been kicked to the curb, and nobody really mentions it anymore. Give it a few years and it will be embarrassing even bring it up.

...for anyone who has an agenda to defend rip-off PPV scams and the fighters who partake in them.

For the entire rest of boxing fans, it's fantastic!!! :happy:happy:happy
PBC hasn't shown any PPV worthy fights what are you talking about?

PBC is so good, long live King Al

Bullshit. He's the greatest fighter of his generation hands down, with or without the PPV revenue.

I don't think PPV's going anywhere just yet. There's a reason Al hasn't completely cut ties with Showtime.

No what's great is his longevity. If it wasn't for his defensive style, he wouldn't have been at the top of the sport for going on 20 years now with his brain still intact. Being undefeated and outspoken about breaking every record in the book comes after the fact.

Maybe not, but at least for the time being, there are very viable alternatives for people who don't believe that any sporting event is worth paying $70-$100 just to watch on TV. We'll see what the future holds, but at least for the time being, boxing is being treated like an actual sport should.

Neither does PPV, 99% of the time - their undercards are almost always forgettable crap, and the main events disappoint more often than not.
We're not talking about undercards ******. Tell me how many PPV worthy cards PBC has aired. I'll wait.

So you're conceding that three-quarters of nearly every card that charges you $75-$100 is crap? Good job at shooting yourself in the foot. :rolleyes

You mean as so-called "worthy" as Pac-Rios, Pac-Algieri, or Floyd-Guerrero? That would be at least half the cards that they show.

I agree that most PPV undercards are crap, I'm not saying I like PPVs I just don't see how PBC is getting rid of it.

Those PPV examples you gave are horrible but they were made possible because they had either Pac or Floyd in the main event, how many times have these guys been on PBC?

I didn't necessarily say that PBC was "getting rid of it" (although I would love for that to happen) - I said that they are providing "very viable alternatives for people who don't believe that any sporting event is worth paying $70-$100 just to watch on TV." They're also showing fights much more frequently and bringing them to a larger audience, without simultaneously hurting the sport in the way that the overhyped cash-grab PPVs are doing the long run.

I'd say that that's more of a reflection on Pac/Floyd than on PBC - PBC is largely showing good young fighters that represent the future of the sport, whereas PPVs are being used by faded greats to make quick cash-grabs in their twilight years. Case in point: the next expected PPV will include another faded titleholder who has basically fabricated his own weight class in order to avoid more deserving challengers like the one in your avatar.

I'm really unimpressed how it's promoted. We have keen blokes here in aus who are having a hard time knowing what's going on or when its going to be on. Whats the back story to the fighters?, especially young up coming fighters, why this match up is important.? The fights are even harder to watch here than before. Posters for events non existant etc. Falling Back to ufc for them I suppose.
