Frank told him as a Flyweight he needs to be moved quicker then other prospects in other weight divisions.

However Patel turned down fights with Andrew Cain and Thomas Essomba in 2015.

Being a novice pro Andy Ayling/Jason McCory gave him a pass. Then the draw with Juan Hinostroza happened.

Two weeks after that fight Patel was meant to box Robert Kanalas but again pulled out.

I think Warrens team were losing patience and tried to persuade him to box Charlie Edwards on the undercard of Joshua v Martin for 20k.

Again he refused. When Frank got the BT deal he obviously wanted to match his prospects hard to make good shows.

He was offered Jay Harris for the Commonwealth (refused) and then famously turned down a then 3-0 Sunny Edwards for the Southern Area.

After turning down,English,Commonwealth and Southern Area title fights they realised after his draw with Hinostroza he wasn't interested in boxing anyone with a pulse.

Patel asked for his contract to be terminated. Upon release he tried to get signed by Matchroom then by Richard Poxon and then had a meeting with Ringstar promotions (none were successful obviously. )

After nearly a year of inactivity someone in the Peacock gym forged a link with one of these dead Hungarian promotions to allow Prince to box on their shows.

I imagine this is right up his street. Gets to pad his record without boxing anyone with a pulse.

Can't be a long term solution. No idea how he got himself a Hungarian passport lmao.
Good insight mate

I was at the Hinostroza fight and the Spaniard was robbed big time , and Patel looked no better than any of the local fighters on the card

the problem with the hardman prince persona was always that he was 8 stone with the physique of a 10 year old boy. one of the main reasons that hes had any success is that the talent pool of adult males at that size is tiny, thats why he fought (and lost) to charlie edwards so many times. there just isnt very many 8stone grown men and even less of them who actually box in the uk.

it seems the moment he goes anywhere near the top of that talent pool he loses let alone internationally. the definition of a busted flush.

Mad ain't it. These are guys who probably don't even go over 8 Stone 10lbs when out of training and enjoying life.

I was one of the smallest if not the smallest kid on my year during my final year at school (about 5ft 4 and remember boxing at under 46kg) but even I now can weigh about 11 Stone if not Training or going gym etc.

are you still 5 4? i live in sw france and people are much smaller here, but even here that would be small! im only 5 10 not exactly a giant myself.

Anyway I'm moving to Bulgaria in about a week.

The way it's going maybe I'll be able to see Patel boxing in a supermarket in Sofia sometime soon!
You got a bird in Bulgaria?

Very interesting, thanks for sharing the info. Do you know if he regrets turning down those fights now, given where he has ended up now?
There's no point avoiding real fights if your career goes nowhere instead. Did he expect Matchroom to make him an offer?

I think Matchroom were interested in bringing him in to box Edwards but he isn't interested in boxing anyone with a pulse from what I've been told.

The problem he is always going to have is that he is a natural strawweight/light-fly.

That guy he just beat was stopped in a round by Jack Bateson on his debut.

This is a strange turn of events even by boxings standards. He obviously still has the hunger and ambition to be a pro,but taking up residence fighting in Hungarian small halls :think

I'm sure this will be just a keep busy no joke scenario.

Ringstar should sign him I reckon.
