Good entertaining fight, congrats to Teo, he pulled it out, I literally couldn't watch it live I couldn't wait for it as I had a busy Sunday planned but I just watched it now and missed all the fun here which is a shame but I had a good look at the comments and I see overwhelming consensus that Teo legit won the fight. When the bell sounded for the 6th I said to myself Loma must take this round to stay in reach and when the bell sounded for the end I put a 10 in the Teo column and I knew that was a rap since there was no way Loma was knocking him out even before the fight I picked him to win on points, a KO seemed unrealistic to me long before the fight even started.

It's tempting to point out everything Loma didn't do and should have and maybe I'll come back and do that at a later time but it's all about what Teo did do right now for me, he didn't freeze and he fought like he was defending his championship, super impressed with the kid and his composure, I was sure he was going to get over aggressive early but he stayed behind the jab and put those rounds in the bank, a 23 year old 15 fight novice is the number 1 lightweight in the world and I hope his next fight is a big lucrative PPV showdown and he is fully rewarded, credit to both men for taking the fight behind closed doors.

Lomachenko is a great fighter and I have absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the size disparity played some role in the result. Likewise, I am perfectly okay with the notion that Loma's lay off may have hurt him too. What I am not okay with, is the emphasis on these two things when a young man who was written off by yourself and almost everyone else just convincingly bested a fighter many considered to be the best in the world. I find that to be suspect.

Yes, scoring punches are the heavy jabs, right hands, and body shots that Lopez landed throughout the fight, as opposed to the much more sporadic slaps and headbutts of Loma.

Yawn, I just rewatched the 12th. Lopez landed his best head shots of the whole fight, and very clearly lost the round. You do know that punches landed on gloves, air and posturing don't count as scoring punches right? You do know that Teo's punches aren't worth 3 Loma punches each right? You do know that Teo doesn't get a round for looking confident right? You do know that Teo doesn't win the round by simply not falling right?

Loma showed when he was being the agressor, he could compete with Lopez. Lopez fought pretty much 99% of the fight on the front foot, on the rare occasions when Loma backed him up, he didn't look comfortable.

If Loma has the motivation and shows up for the first 6 rounds, then the rematch could be a classic.

One of the biggest things from the first fight for me was Lopez's speed. The outright speed between the two was very comparable. Great performances from Lopez.

Exactly, you don't win rounds doing nothing. You also don't win rounds by not landing punches. This wasn't a close fight, I was honestly embarrassed for Teo and his father when they were acting like they had won when the bell rang.
