Good opponent on paper for a prospect learning his trade.
He has been in with Stieglitz,balzsay and mundine along with some other half decent names.
Winning record as well so looks good.
He is a supermiddleweight but that's to be expected really and he isn't a puncher according to his stats but he tends to get matched with more experienced opponents and beat somebody 10-0 not long back.
Plus of course he is durable.
Overall I'm impressed.

Best not to read to much into his one round victory over Julio Vazquez either.
Still,it's a good opponent.
I wonder how long they have known about this opponent considering it's only just over a week away,how prepared is this guy?

For someone only 8 fights deep that looks like a good opponent. Solid winning record, lost only a handful by stoppage and been in with some world level names. Ideally they need someone really durable after this, durable and aggressive. If they can't punch that's fine, so long as they come forward and force him to box, think and adapt.

This is also for the WBC international title.
Now even though governing bodies rankings are hideous corrupt pieces of shit,it would still be impressive if Callum smith was ranked top 15 by the WBC after 9 bouts.

Looks like a good fight for Smith, should get some rounds and a decent test.
Would it be impressive? Or would it just prove your earlier point that the rankings are 'hideous corrupt pieces of shit'? I'd say the later.
Still decent opponent mind, Callum definitely needs rounds and I think thats what he'll get from this fight

·No that makes allot of sense. He could have learned allot from 6-7 rounds with a fighter like Mendy. Every fighter needs an acid test on the way up.

Well then match Callum against someone with a good defense (something Mendy doesnt have).
It was clear that Mendy wont last long against Callum.

Clear to who? The general feeling on here was that Mendy would at least take Smith a few rounds, it was quite a shocking result IMO>
