If there's one thing I learned from the internet, its never bother with an internet tough guy.

So why you come back into my thread? Crawling like a little dog?
Stupid Bitch.

And enough posters have agreed that they don't really like taunting...........not just from here but from other forums too.

I`ve seen other fighters do worse post fight celebrations before, but generally speaking I don`t like seeing anyone taunting a man when they are already down and out. However, I won`t go so far as to say that I wish harm or worse on fighters that do this, and there has to be a distinction made between fighters who taunt a man when he is down due to a provocation leading up to the fight and between those who do it simply because it is in their nature to do so.

To use an example I remember when Erik Morales once fought a fighter by the name of Bobby Boy Velardez I think his name was, anyway this fighter really made a lot of derogatory and insulting comments towards Erik leading up to their fight and swore he would be the first man to knock him out and show everyone he was nothing more than a bum among other things. I don`t think I need to tell anyone here how Morales reacted to these comments and what he must have been thinking, and come fight time he dismantled and stopped Velardez in four one-sided rounds.

After the final knockdown, while Velardez was still on the floor being attended to by his corner and a physician, Morales stood over him while photographers snapped pictures of him with his arm raised over his fallen opponent. Now while I do not condone what Erik did, it was not in his usual nature to do such a thing and it was only because of the taunting and insulting comments made by Velardez leading up to their fight that prompted him to react such a way, and as a result I think fighters under such circumstances deserve a pass.

To my knowledge Sergey Kovalev, much like Erik Morales, was not very pleased about some of the comments made by Sillakh leading up to their fight and obviously took what he said to heart and was intent on making him pay for it. Now this he did do and in impressive fashion no less, and while I don`t agree with his taunting a man who is already down, since I have never seen him act this way in the past I am willing to chalk it up as a one time incident for the time being. I have on the other hand seen Stevenson overreact in a rather tasteless and over the top fashion in some of his victories which while not the same as taunting a man who is down is nevertheless in poor taste.

Either way such incidents should be judged on an individual case-by-case basis, but fighters who make it a habit to taunt fallen opponents or have ridiculous post fight celebrations I generally do not care for even if I can acknowledge they are good fighters. I much prefer the Alexis Arguello and Floyd Patterson type of approach towards fallen opponents and in their post-fight comments and actions, low key and humble. Although with that said even Alexis got upset at Billy Costello for some of his comments leading up to their fight and made him pay for it in their fight, it just goes to show that even someone as humble and nice as Alexis can get riled up if you push the right buttons.
Great post.. I agree with you.. I do UNDERSTAND why some fighters do it.. but I DON'T appreciate it.
Good points made.. That being said if Sergey CONTINUES to do it to every opponent... I will begin to dislike him.

I don't know, but Roy Jones taunting Thomas Tate in the opposite corner as the fight was being waved off was pretty hilarious.

See, Tate talked shit and got his fuckin ass kicked. If Ismayl had some choice words, then I'm not feeling too bad about it but I've got to reiterate how badly Prime James Toney would turn Kovalev's ass inside out. Like real, real bad. His punches aren't doing jack shit. :deal
And? What does Toney have to do with anything? Toney would smoke most middleweights/super middleweights

Lets talk about how Toney would get outhustled by Hagler :deal

Good for you. Even Reggie (Toney's fourth best win) would've had his way with most of Hagler's MW comp
Dont think so, who did reggie beat for you to say something like that? Sounds like you are just bigging up toney's opponents.

If toney had the consistency that you wish he had and didnt get schooled in his prime by Jones then maybe he would be comparable to Hagler.

Ha I don't need to hype them up, the oddsmakers already did that and nobody's taking it from JT. Their abilities speak for themselves.
