I think JCC JR would fair well under Robert Garcia
He's a boxer because his father pushed him to be. Let's see if he can be motivated away from his father.

I have absolutely no idea who would be the best trainer for Jr. The best for his style would probably be Roach (but he split with him he trains too many fighters and who knows how long he will continue to train) his father but it seems that doesn't work out either or Abel Sanchez he helped GGG develope a very JCC Sr like style but with GGG as a possible opponent in the future that won't happen either. Finding a trainer who fits him will be hard the only ones who come to my mind are Robert Garcia but I think he could lack the technical aspect since Chavez comes straight forward but is still not really a brawler or Hunter but he could lack the offensive mindset but he at least wouldn't let Chavez become a brawler
The best trainer for Jr isn't necessarily the best TRAINER, per se, but rather the trainer with the best chance of getting Jr motivated & dedicated. I have no idea who that would be, and I doubt such a human exists, but it sure would be interesting to see where Jr could go if he actually dedicated himself to the sport.

I reckon his dad knows he doesn't have much time left at 160 and when that happens, his limitations will be there for all to see very clearly.

Just from reading into the statement, what probably happened is Julio Sr. is probably very demanding with how his son should be training, and his son doesn't like the pressure and thinks if his father is around it will just be too difficult. I understand that. Father's want the best for their son's but having a guy with such high standards as Julio Sr. who was a great among greats would be tough for the son to match. If he could match his father's will and work ethic, he might have become a great. If he doesn't have the discipline of his father, that is nothing to really insult him about. Who does have that sort of discipline. I still think Julio Jr. is good, and takes a good punch. I am not sure I see him very successful if he moves up to 168 or 175, which is inevitable because of weight problems. But from what the statement says and saying he wants to see him weekly, obviously he is getting a lot of pressure from his dad. That is all I can make out of it.

Even when Chavez SR was a big star and sniffing coke off stripper's asses he still had more dedication than his son. Seems like JR has far more illegal drugs to drop weight than he ever will have dedication for the sport.

This is overall a good move. Staying at home and thinking he can be trained by his dad and his friends is what got him in trouble against Martinez. Up to that point he had been showing steady improvement under Freddie. Now that they're not working together who knows.
