It seems like a long time ago, but remember when people were saying he would never, ever dare to fight GGG under any circumstances?

Unless I just went back in time a few years, I've no idea what your point is.
My point is that some people were saying he would never, ever fight GGG, ever. Not that he wouldn't beat GGG, but that he would never dare to fight him at all. Those people were very wrong, twice, and the goalposts just keep moving.

True some people have their own agendas against certain fighters whilst others get a free pass.
Andre ward was accused of Ducking the Light Heavyweight division. When Ward asked GGG to fight him at catch weight. He got slated for it.
Floyd Mayweather who started his career at Super Featherweight. Was accused of ducking GGG a middleweight.
Canelo who started his career at 147 lb gets accused of ducking all kinds of fighters.
Interestingly GGG who has spent his entire career at middleweight is given a free pass.
Yet they want Canelo a 5"7" midget to fight at 175lbs and beyond.

Billy Joe Saunders apparently was raring to go back out.
These guys are protesting too hard.
I am not sure if there was any real broken orbital now. Considering it was Hearn that made the claim straight after the fight.
Anyways the comments section for that video are epic.

I'm quite content to accept that Saunders' injury was serious enough for the fight to be stopped, despite what he said about other fighters. I would even give him props for seeing the round out and taking further punishment, despite not even being able to throw a single punch or defend himself properly. Whoever did make the call, it was made quickly before the doctor had a chance to give it a good examination, and he would have stopped the fight anyway.
That said, if the situation were reversed and he had done this to Canelo, we all know he would be tweeting for years about Canelo being a quitter and generally being an insufferable twat, so I take everything I said back.

Even more Bizarre is MTK the boxing management out fit run by alleged Irish Gangster Daniel Kinahan who BJ Saunders is signed to has apparently asked Youtube Channels, Radio Raheem, Michelle Joy Phelps, Seconds Out, IFL TV etc... To delete all postfight interviews involving Mark Tibbs.

Tibbs clarifying what happened in the corner with a video posted on his personal twitter. Seems to me he really wants to clarify more so who was the boss in the corner that niight, and his statement "Great fighters have done what Billy Joe Saunders has done" (quoted from a twitter reply to the video) sounds more like BJS actually didn't want to go out for round 9. Nothing wrong with that, so why not just say it?

Looks like people are trying to silence him from more or less saying Saunders. Did'nt want to continue and quit.
Why all these shaninigans I am seriously doubting if he did suffer an orbital fracture. He probably just took thumb in the eye got bruised and he panicked. And quit.
Considering the person who diagnosed the Orbital fracture right after the fight was the renowned Medical expert Eddie Hearn. Who also diagnosed a Concussion for AJ after he lost to Andy Ruiz.

I didn't want to be the first to say that maybe the injury isn't as bad as we thought. I had assumed it was a given from the way his eye blackened and swelled up immediately. This situation is odd.

Furthermore when a fight is unexpectdly stopped it is pretty much the norm to show corner footage and Audio. So viewers know what happened.
That footage and audio was never shown and has somehow disappeared.

I'm rewatching the fight for the first time right now, first round just ended. How anyone could give Saunders the first round is a mystery. Canelo holds the centre of the ring for the entire round, except for when he wants to come forward, and lands several heavy punches. Saunders barely lands with anything and is backed up constantly. I guess I'll do a longer post when I've watched it all.
And just noticed Canelo literally slowly struts back to his corner, taking it all in lol.

I listened to the BBC Radio Commentary of the fight on the day.
Commentayors had different opinions Joe Gallagher had Saunders well ahead.
When I watched it on youtube. What I saw was Saunders looked slightly busier in some rounds but his punches were mostly missing or canelo was blocking and catching them. Whatever got through was mostly pitty pat.
Amir Khan and Liam Smith put up better fights with Canelo. Then both Callum Smith and Saunders.

Round 2: Saunders comes out looking to take the centre of the ring, throwing stiff jabs. Nothing lands and then Canelo retakes the centre. Saunders lands one or two jabs but he's still on the outside. Commentator (ominously) notes that Canelo has already thrown 2 right upper cuts, both missed. Froch says the difference between their power shots is noticeable, and with headphones on, I can hear the difference. Other commentator then notes Canelo has thrown the counter right upper cut 3 times with power, and missed. Saunders has landed a few punches here and there, but Canelo is throwing hard and landing some, and a straight right visibly backs Saunders up around 2.15. Maybe this round isn't quite as clear cut a round as I originally thought, but Canelo still did the better work and Saunders didn't do much except throw jabs and one solid punch, Canelo 20-18.
Round 3: Again Saunders comes out and looks to take the centre of the ring, but gets slowly backed up by Canelo. Saunders paws away for the first 30 seconds, landing nothing, and Canelo doesn't throw a single punch in that time. Canelo then throws and looks like he catches Saunders body, difficult to tell, but Saunders backs up. Another 20 seconds passes, Saunders still throwing but not landing, Canelo counters with a solid left hook to the body that you can hear land. Canelo starts backing up Saunders to the ropes, and Saunders dances out of it. 1.40 in the round and Saunders has landed nothing at all, Canelo has thrown maybe 5 or 6 punches and landed at least 1 solid body shot. Canelo then throws a hook to the body and a solid hook to the head. Not sure if the body shot landed, but the hook sure did and Saunders shakes his head. Saunders still landing nothing, Canelo lands another solid left hook to the body, and nothing much happens. Summary: Saunders looked busier and landed nothing, Canelo wasn't even throwing for half the round and still backed Saunders up and landed several heavy punched. Clear Canelo round, Canelo 30-27.

Canelo throws a body shot, but its unclear if it lands cleanly because of camera angle. Canelo throws a combination and looks like it misses, but it sounds like a body shot lands (again bad camera angle). Saunders again throwing lots but not landing a single punch, Canelo eventually backs him up to the ropes and throws heavy at the body but you can't tell how effective it is because of camera angle. Canelo throws another body shot, it's so quick you can't tell if it lands but looks clean. Canelo throws a big right upper cut but misses. Commentator says its the 4th big one, and then he throws another upper cut which lands. Saunders nods his head to acknowledge it, but it doesn't seem to phase him. Commentators are saying it's a good round for Saunders, but I'm not sure how. He landed pretty much nothing, got backed up constantly, ate several body shots and an upper cut. Canelo 40-36.
Replay shows the Canelo upper cut nearly knocks Saunders' gumshield out.

Saunders throws 2 or 3 punches, the first 2 miss, the 3rd land on Canelo but he's slipping it already. Saunders lands a cheeky punch on the break, but Canelo doesn't look bothered.The rest of the round plays itself out. I originally gave this round to Canelo, but it's fairly even and I can see how people would give it to Saunders because he landed the nice combination and the cheeky break punch, so I'll be generous. Canelo 49-36.
Round 6: Mannix says he has Saunders up by 1 round, I just don't even want to go there. Saunders has landed maybe 5 or 6 effective punches the entire fight and has been constantly backed up. Both fighters come out looking like they want this. Too many punches landed to go through them all. I gave this to Canelo on the night, but it's a 10-10 for me. Canelo 50-46.

Just watched an interview with Ben Davison, and he emphatically states that he was giving Saunders all kinds of reasons to pull out of the fight in the corner, but Saunders shaking his head was him saying he wanted to carry on and he would switch to orthodox. Fuck knows what's going on there.
