Thurman returned with a win in Australia.

But what a wasted talent..,had a potential to be an all time great.

Only the great Manny Pacquaio has beaten this man and I still haven't seen any performance in the ring that lets me conclude that he's incapable of competing with the top 10. An assumption that he can't based on his age and inactivity is a reasonable one but ring rust can be shaken off and I still believe in Keith, a couple of more wins and then why not Norman Jr vs Thurman?

Keith is not going back down to Welterweight.
A few years ago I would have picked him to give Terence Crawford a very tough fight. I think he would have beaten Spence.

Even the version of Thurman that fought Pacquiao was coming off inactivity and injuries.

Can't see him doing much at his age..and long layoffs. I suspect after a couple of paychecks he will disappear.

Oh yeah that was at 154, so today you think he's easy work for Crawford? I think Keith could still do something in the division, Lubin, Charlo, Madrimov are all winnable fights today imo and if he got to Fundora he could beat him although I would be picking Fundora.

Not sure how he would fare Vs Crawford today his recent fight with someone like Brock Jarvis was not much of an indicator. I presume he would put up a good account of himself for the first 6 rounds before fading in the second half. Although neither Crawford or Spence showed any strong inclination to fight him in the last few years. I suspect they both new he would be a tough fight.
Crawford used the excuse of being blackballed by Thurman's promoter PBC when he wanted the fight as a Top Rank fighter. And Spence accused Thurman of not giving him a shot when he was an up and coming fighter. The leverage Thurman had was a title and once he lost that, the risk reward ratio did not make sense, also baffles me that he never got a huge fan base despite having an electric style, and a charismatic personality, PBC payed him good money but failed to properly market him.

He is guy who made his money, got married, had injuries and lost that hunger he displayed on his way up. I think this comeback for him is just having a few more dollars in the bank and nothing more. He has not really been in a hurry in the last few years, to get back in the Ring.

And I suppose given the nature of this sport and how we have seen legends fall to vices and go broke being a happily married guy with money in the bank. Is probably more important in the greater scheme of things.

Incidentally I remember reading from the late British boxing journalist and commentator Reg Gutteridge 30 plus years ago. About the legendary Cus D Amato having the belief that boxers should delay marriage till after retirement because marriage tames them.

Well I suppose in that case Thurman became tame lol. He was absolutely smitten as a newly wed guy in one of them prefight documentaries years ago, and the subsequent long absences from the Ring followed after that.

I also think Thurman would have been a dangerous fight for Mayweather in the latter part of his career. Certainly way more dangerous then the likes of Berto and Guerrero. Probably a reason he never got the fight.

Looks like a fight between Tim Tszyu and Keith Thurman is in the works for later this summer. If it comes off, I take Thurman by stoppage late in the fight.

The only fighter named Tszyu I have any respect for is Kostya, his dad. His kid comes off like a little punk far too many times for my liking.
