It's exciting to see Usyk finally at heavyweight, but there are more interesting and better suited opponents available for him. Takam's a small heavy, so it isn't going to look too dissimilar to Usyk's cruiserweight fights -- I'd rather see him bashing around bigger guys like Michael Hunter has been doing recently :yep
Yep.I see it going the distance aswell. I reckon Takam goes the full 12 but loses every round...
I read reports of Usyk giving Wlad nightmares a few years ago. I hope he can make a dent in the division...Yep.
Takam isn't very mobile, but he IS durable.
If Usyk can put him down, it would be a huge statement, and that's really the main reason to be excited about this fight.
But sadly, that's a very unlikely scenario.
I'm not at all sold on the idea of Usyk as a HW, though I do remain hopeful.
the fact that Povetkin wanted a tuneup before fighting Usyk speaks volumes about Usyk's presence at HW. Usyk got the HW division SHOOK. I didn't know that about Usyk sparring Wlad, I would love to see a video of those sessions.I read reports of Usyk giving Wlad nightmares a few years ago. I hope he can make a dent in the division...
Agreed. Pulev-Usyk would probably be an interesting chess match/jabbing fest.Decent test for his first heavy.
I would have liked to see him in with a big rangy guy to see how he adjusts to that, but there's time for that.
Its really not a good fight, Takam is like 5 ft 11 and got recently got ktfo by Chisora, Usyk, Breidis, Gassiev could all move up and beat Takam with ease hes really not that good, makes no sense to fight the smallest heavyweight out there when everyone else is much tallerI like the fight, it's a good measuring stick to see how good Usyk will be at HW. Takam is battle tested & is sure to give Usyk some issues early on.
It makes perfect sense. Give Usyk a chance to get used to the weight. Also a chance to put a recognizable HW scalp on his resume, so as to increase the status / finances of later, more difficult fights. Its really not a good fight, Takam is like 5 ft 11 and got recently got ktfo by Chisora, Usyk, Breidis, Gassiev could all move up and beat Takam with ease hes really not that good, makes no sense to fight the smallest heavyweight out there when everyone else is much taller
But David Haye has nothing to do with Usyk completely different styles, Haye would have ktfo Takam whose smaller than him, Usyk will outbox Takam easily or stop him lateIt makes perfect sense. Remember, there's no guarantee Usyk will do well at HW.
Two words: David Haye.
- And Haye clearly hit harder than Usyk. He was probably faster, overall, as well. So how did THAT turn out?
I must admit, that's a pretty good point.Usyk weighs more on fight night than Wilder, he only needs to put on 10-15lbs of weight to be a full heavyweight, people are looking into getting used to the weight too much, its getting used to the height and reach of his opponents
