maybe next time he'll consistently bust out the counters off his Floyd roll:yep
that would be nice. He has some pretty nice counters in the fight in the middle of the ring.
Given that Saul is a flat footed fighter without an endless pool of stamina he's wise to copy Floyd's defense
that's a good point. Floyd's style lets him conserve a lot of energy and when he's on the ropes, he can recharge while letting his opponent tire.

Canelo-Lara will be a non-title contest, says Schaefer. The Mexican superstar had no interest in paying a sanctioning fee for a 'regular' world title when Floyd Mayweather Jr. is the recognized champion under the WBA.

"It's a non-title fight at 154 plus/minus one-pound. I don't think [weight] was really a determining factor. Canelo believes, and rightfully so, that Floyd Mayweather is the [WBA] champion at 154, so he doesn't want to fight for a title when he feels Mayweather is the champion, which he is. Mayweather is the [WBA] super champion and Lara is the 'regular' champion. If he intends to keep his title, obviously Lara will have to pay the relevant sanctioning fee," Schaefer told BoxingScene.com.
paying tribute to his hero

getting schooled by Floyd improved his boxing

anyone catch the right hook + left upper combo in the early rounds he ripped from Floyd's Cotto(e) fight

then there were a shit load of right hooks

there was a check hook he threw to avoid the ropes in the middle rounds

the Floyd roll against the ropes later on in the fight

even that right hand feint + left upper he stopped Angulo(e) with came out of Floyd's playbook during the 2nd or 4th round of the Cotto(e) fight

It seems he was intelligent and young enough to implement the info he got when Floyd schooled him
That's what I thought as well. He was literally schooled, and unlike most he learned during his schooling.

Saul is slicker than I give him credit for. Still not as slick as he thinks he is though. Still, pretty slick
Slick like butter, call him white chocolate.

I'm with you on all of this.

A convincing win over Lara will make me a believer. I don't believe Erislandy is as good as many make him out to be but he'll be a fairly difficult stylistic matchup for Saul IMO

This fight could be kinda shitty IMO Like you say Lara is not the talent of Rigo/Gamboa but is definitely annoying for the flat feet of Canelo. Hopefully Saul is willing to get in there 100% because Hernandez and Molina had big success when push came to shove.

Exactly. Canelo looks at his best when he can shuffle towards a prone opponent or pick off a gamer.

Lara is neither of these, though I don't think the Cuban is consustent with his ring generalship or his defence either.

Great fight. Both deserve props for taking it, and we will benefit frim seeing the #2 and #3 go at it (Molina is a nonce supposedly so I've taken him out of the equation)

Molina is a bad eye sore anyways for a champion boxer. I really hope Canelo catches him sort of like Froch did with Groves and without a shady stoppage.

I said though I think Lara does enough to win but probably gets robbed on the cards.
