Couldn't agree more about these tune-ups being on fight pass. It would raise the quality of the TV show overall, not having to watch these fights, and give fight pass buyers a bit of value for money. It would probably help sell more fight pass subscriptions too so it would be a winner for Hearn as well.
You would have thought but Hearn seems intent of given as little as possible for the money he charges.

this is a pretty good first fight for gavin, a good start with matchroom. we now know hes never going to be the fighter we thought he could be, but this is still a very high level. i think right now anything or anyone beyond this would be too much for him.
Thats about the size of it,I think. If it comes off its a very good fight, apart from Bundu Gavins toughest. Before him people were talking about Frank beating all kinds of beasts at the weight, talking about his TALENT and all that. The warning signs were there when he was put down by that African. He was in his backyard when he lost, justifiably IMO to a much older man. So he's got a chance to redeem himself. A win plus one more at the same level might just get him a Brook fight, because Ive a feeling Eddie won't be looking for any beasts for his first voluntary, assuming he gets past Dan.

Credit to matchroom.

Van heerden was the right choice.

Well ranked, decent fringe operator but if gavin performs then he can win.its a good fight, and one of the better pieces of matchmaking from them this year.

I'm looking forward to this even though I expect it to be a hard watch.lots of clinching and messy work in what should be a tight fight.

@Bill i remebered something actually, you need to keep gavin busy or hes straight back on the burger kings and the yeyo. however good he is is almost irrelevant at this point if you dont keep him focussed. theres a lot of stuff like this going on behind the scenes that its easy to forget i suppose.

That is true actually, Frankie isn't the most dedicated boxer in the world, I don't really have a problem with giving him a tune up or a run out, its more the fact its being show on TV as an attraction, a vital part of the show, if you like.

the only thing worse that watching him fight is watching him being interviewed. and i say that as someone who has watched most of his fights and most of interviews.

I want see Gavin rematch Bundu and then move onto world level from there. Van Heeren is just bang average, I don't get why people think beating him would be a good win. This is Gavin's last chance to go anywhere in his career, he can't spend any more time fighting opponents who won't get him any closer to a world title.

 That's a very valid point, he is supposed to be a bit of a lad away from boxing but you wouldn't know that by watching him.
i think its a toss up between you and him for the most miserable fuckers in and around british boxing. hes fucking relentless in every interview ive ever seen. if only he could be that persistant in the ring.

Agree that's the fight he should be looking for.
